What visitors say
Horsley is a lovely camp site. It's set well back from roads, so has minimal traffic noise, and feels like a real oasis. The fishing lake is lovely to sit by and watch the wildlife, and is popular with fishers, who often seem to be reeling in fish. The team are all friendly and helpful, and the pitches a decent size. The shop is small, but has all the emergency supplies you might need. The facilities are good, too - a nice, big washing up area with plenty of sinks, a laundry room, and clean toilets and showers. We will be back, and cannot recommend it enough. We camp in a tent, but there was a real mix of units from vintage VW campervans, to big RVs, Transit (and similar) conversions, tents of all sizes and more. Book in advance as it's not huge, and is very popular. Note that one vehicle is permitted onsite with each tent/unit, and the car park by reception is very small, so do carpool, otherwise you may end up having to park extra vehicles in the village (like my daughter did when she joined us after work). It's not far, and there is free on street parking in the side roads, but be aware...

The camping itself is beautiful, well kept and clean but unfortunately staff made our experience very uncomfortable. The pump to inflate my mattress broke and so I needed an electric plug for about 3 minutes to inflate my mattress however I was told I couldn’t use any as “ I didn’t pay for electricity” I offered to pay but was denied to use it so I had to sleep on the floor. On the website they state they have freezer but wanted to charge 50p per ice block to be put in the freezer, obviously is not about the cost itself rather than the principle itself?

Lovely picturesque site, staff friendly and helpful. Only negative from our perspective is feels very cramped especially when busy. Would benefit from having less pitches in our opinion. Fishing on the lake is great fun and the fish are stunning dark fish.

A lovely site with very friendly staff, and a beautiful fishing lake that makes it very scenic. The toilet and shower facilities were very clean. The site did feel a little cramped and lacked privacy, but it wouldn’t put us off returning for a short stay.
