What visitors say
Amazing place, seeped in so much history. There was a showing of the Armada Maps, on loan from the National Museum of the Royal Navy. Worth a visit to see the maps before they are returned. Before Henry VIII and new ownership, this was occupied by Monks and you can see the large cider press in the barn. Nice gardens to walk around and, as always, cafe for rest and replenishment. National Trust members get free access so if you’re not already a member, think about joining as there are many other NT properties in the area worth a visit, so you will definitely get your money worth. Little legs and four paws welcome.

What a lovely hidden gem and one not to be missed. Is also part of the 2for1 Gardeners World scheme. Little bit of a walk down to the Abbey and gardens from the car park, is wheelchair accessible but certain areas are not because of steps. Beautiful Abbey and surrounding gardens. There’s a few independent shops and a cafe for that cup of tea and a snack or bowl of soup if you prefer. Langage ice cream for afters (don’t mind if I do!). Lovely to visit at Harvest time when the great barn is decorated with pumpkins and squashes. Also Christmas time when it’s beautifully decorated.

A beautiful and peaceful place to visit. The gardens are stunning, immaculately maintained, and perfect for a relaxing stroll. The abbey itself is full of history and character, with lots to discover about Sir Francis Drake and his connection to the estate. A fascinating and tranquil place that's well worth a visit.
