Bwlchgwyn Equestrian Holidays - Ty Hir

Gwynedd

Photo: Google Maps

Ty Hir works well for families wanting to combine a seaside break with something different, or groups of friends looking for a base with activities built in. The converted barn sits on a working equestrian farm in Gwynedd, where pony trekking lessons run along the beach and the Mawddach Estuary. A private gate leads directly to Fairbourne's sands; Barmouth is reachable via the Victorian bridge. The farm also keeps alpacas and pygmy goats, which guests can meet.

Inside are four bedrooms sleeping eight, spread across two floors. Downstairs holds a living and dining room with a woodburner, a kitchen with full cooking facilities, a kingsize bedroom, two singles, and a bathroom with bath and shower. Upstairs you'll find a games room, two further bedrooms (one double, one with singles), and a shower room. A wood-fired hot tub for eight sits in an enclosed patio with garden furniture and a barbecue. Bed linen, towels, Wi-Fi and heating are covered; logs for the woodburner are provided too. One pet can stay free of charge.

The location suits walkers—you're in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty within Snowdonia National Park, with coastal trails and cycle paths nearby. Zip World and Bounce Below are about 45 minutes away. A shop, golf course, pub and restaurant are three-quarters of a mile off. Horse livery is available by arrangement if you're bringing your own.
