A period rectory turned adults-only B&B in Hastings, with just eight rooms, a garden and easy reach of the Old Town and seafront.

About The Old Rectory

The Old Rectory is a former clergy house on Harold Road in Hastings, now run as a small, adults-only B&B with just eight rooms. Its size keeps things intimate, with the kind of quiet, homey atmosphere that comes from a property that has never tried to be a big hotel.

Rooms come en-suite and are comfortably furnished, with thoughtful extras such as robes and hot water bottles, plus drinks available in room. Breakfast is a particular strength, with homemade dishes served each morning, and the on-site bar, garden, outdoor seating and picnic area give guests plenty of ways to relax outdoors or in. There's also a spa and sauna on site, free WiFi throughout, 24 hour reception and luggage storage for early arrivals or late departures. Staff are attentive and known for going out of their way to help, though it's worth noting there is no parking available at the property.

Hastings Old Town and the seafront are both within easy reach, and the surrounding area has pubs, restaurants and other eateries nearby, along with entertainment options for evenings out. It's a peaceful base for exploring the town on foot.

We wanted a quick break from the city and booked ourselves to stay in The Old Rectory. The place was very homey. The breakfast included in the booking was not a buffet but very delicious and tasty. The staff were very friendly as well and is always there to give assistance when needed. It is so close in the old town and was a quick walk back after us wondering around the bay area. They can cater two cars in their parking spaces and we were lucky to avail one as most areas in the town are paid parking. Highly recommended place to stay!

Sunday 5/4/26. Roast dinner with an Indian influence. What a great idea! The food was amazing, albeit a little slow to arrive. In our opinion though that meant that it was all freshly cooked and not pre-made and heated in a microwave. The staff were great and kept us informed about delays in service. The dining room was clean and well presented. The venue is first and foremost a beautiful Guest House and we were advised when we booked about this, so seeing other staff attending to this side of the business was not a shock or a problem. It didn't detract from the ambiance of the dining room. Well done to all those involved and we look forward to returning when you have another of these themed dining experiences.

Absolutely wonderful stay. After a 5.5hr solo car journey I arrived exhausted.. I was immediately offered a cup of tea and taken through to the lounge... Sitting in front of the roaring log fire a teapot and slice of cake soon had me perking up.... My case was magically whisked up to my room whilst I enjoyed my tea. My room was beautiful, on the second floor overlooking the garden... Beautifully done with lots of thoughtful touches... Beautiful toiletries in the bathroom, a robe hanging to wrap myself in, the usual hairdryer but also lovely cosy hot water bottles if you fancied snuggling up... The bed was so comfortable... I don't sleep well generally but did in that bed!! Waking up I realised it was far later than I expected it to be. Breakfast amazing again... Home smoked fish, home made sausages, beautifully presented and tasted wonderful. I didn't need anything else to eat until I reached home later that evening. I had travelled for a music event, the staff the night before when I was asking how to walk to the venue even offered to walk me there... It was only a few minutes away. The following morning I was asked how my evening out had been... So thoughtful and well remembered. I loved it... And highly highly recommend this hotel to anyone

This is what you expect from a good hotel. Just the right amount of Customer Service, staff prepared to go that extra step to ensure your stay is perfect. Natalie is an exceptional host alongside colleague Emily. Chef Yanik, was welcoming and accommodated all requests regarding breakfast, he also went that extra mile to ensure we were parked and settled after negotiating getting to the hotel during the Hastings Carnival Parade. Local information was provided and was accurate. This is a really great hotel and the staff make it extra special. Breakfast is amazing 👏 Thank you all for making a lovely weekend extra special.
