About The Bowens B&B

Fownhope makes a good base for exploring Herefordshire, with Hereford itself around 7.17 miles away and Gloucester Quays within reach for a day out. Locally there are pubs, restaurants and other places to eat within easy walking distance, along with entertainment nearby for evenings when guests don't fancy venturing far.

The Bowens B&B sits in this village setting and offers straightforward, comfortable accommodation with breakfast included each morning. Guests have access to a bar on site, free WiFi throughout, and a garden to relax in. There's also 24 hour reception for flexible arrivals, plus meeting rooms available for those combining the stay with work.

Free on-site parking is provided, which makes it a practical stop for anyone touring the county by car. It's a simple, well-placed spot for using Fownhope and the surrounding area as a springboard, rather than a destination with grand facilities in itself.

Just got home from a wonderful stay at Bowens.Very clean and spacious room with a very comfortable bed and great quality pillows, rare these days. Lovely clean bathroom, hot shower and bright white fluffy towels, great. Breakfast was also cooked to order and delicious, perfect start to your day . The village of Fownhope and surrounding area is picture postcard stuff but if your out walking after dark take a torch, its dark dark, no street lights. We loved it there and will most definitely be returning in the future. Thank you Claire and Kevin for a wonderful stay in Fownhope.

While the bed and breakfast itself was clean and the room was good, our experience was completely soured by the owner's unprofessional behavior, which began the very first day. The issue started when we were handed the breakfast menu. It was unclear how many items we could choose. For the English breakfast it stated: "Any combination of the following" and my husband made his selections. When we gave the owner our order, his immediate and unwelcoming comment was, "we shall see you have to eat everything." This was a jarring and uncomfortable way to begin our stay. The problem escalated the next day. My husband made a simple and reasonable request for one extra sausage and one extra bacon, in addition to one of each. The owner looked very angry and responded that this was an "awful lot," citing my husband's choices from the previous day. He refused the request. These interactions made us so uncomfortable that we chose to skip breakfast for the next day. The owner's comments made us feel unwelcome and created a tense atmosphere. While the accommodations were fine, we didn't have a nice experience. We think the menu could have been clearer about how many items to pick, the owner could have rejected more politely or could have offered the selection for an additional cost.

Our third time staying at the Bowens B&b ! It’s a Gem. Kevin and Claire are the best hosts. Spotlessly clean, fabulous breakfast. We (Karl and Clive) recommend this little bit of Paradise for a relaxing comfortable stay.

Loved our stay at Bowens. Positioned perfectly for enjoying many nature walks. The rooms are so clean and a great size. Great breakfast in the morning with beautiful views of the garden and surrounding countryside from the terrace. We felt so welcomed throughout our stay. Will be returning!
