About Holme Lacy House Hotel

Holme Lacy House is a large historic mansion set in landscaped grounds beside the River Wye, around five miles southeast of Hereford. Run as one of the Warner Leisure Hotels group's adults-only properties, it combines the original eighteenth-century house, with its ornate plasterwork ceilings, and a modern extension holding the bulk of the bedrooms.

The hotel is built around an all-inclusive style break, with entertainment most evenings, a spa and leisure facilities, and extensive grounds for walking. It suits couples and groups looking for a self-contained countryside stay rather than a city-centre base, though Hereford itself is a short drive away for those who want to see the cathedral or explore the city.

Grounds include gardens, a lake and parkland walks, and the estate's scale makes it feel more like a country retreat than a conventional hotel.

We had such a lovely two night stay. The grounds and lake are beautiful to wander around and take in the views and soak up the surrounding countryside. It is a lovely Georgian House and very tranquil. The pool and sauna facilities were lovely too although we did only use them around 5pm when it wasn't busy. The food choices and venues were excellent as was the service. There is a fabulous games room (pool, mini curling table, scrabble/chess/draughts tables and relaxung Chesterfield sofas. There is an air-conditioned gym which had several machines and some free weights - again, not busy as we only used it once mud-afternoon. Only negative was the room we were in did not have air-con so it was very warm at night.

Went for afternoon tea . Did not ask if anyone had allergies. Tea tray came , but not given the choice of fillings in sandwiches. Salmon sandwiches , which I hate and some thing else that looked like it came out of a jar. Egg and chicken sandwiches delicious. Scones looked a bit hard on the outside but soft inside . Bread a little crisp on the outside. Table behind us only ate half theirs . Staff very pleasant . Beautiful house and well maintained gardens

6 of us (3 couples) had a fabulous time last weekend. Great staff, rooms and service. Loved evening entertainment especially the group Lipstick on your Collar. One of best we've seen at Warners and we've been going for years. Lisa the entertainment officer brilliant especially with the quizzes. Ben one of the waiters was also excellent and very helpful. The reason I gave only 4 stars was the food. Firstly the beef ribs on the menu were not available the whole weekend. Very disappointing. The only meal I really enjoyed was the duck. We ate in the a la carte restaurant. Just not up to standard. Sorry but we all felt the same. It didn't spoil it for us and we will continue to go on Warners breaks because we love them but would be good to eat fab food like we have in the past.

Good to get away for a couple days, dinner good, good choice of food, same for breakfast. Food during the day, what was on offer was good. One thing tp check before you leave, that is your room statement, I had a round of drinks charged to my room, that I didn't have, the reception accepted my queries and deleted the drinks bill.
