Walker's Retreat occupies the upper floor of a converted rural building, all on one level, and sleeps three in a double and single bedroom with one bathroom. The core living space is open-plan, combining lounge, dining area and kitchen where you can prepare proper meals; a balcony overlooks the courtyard gardens and paddocks beyond.

Essentials including electricity, wi-fi, bed linen and towels are included. The kitchen has a cooker, hob, microwave, fridge and washing machine, and there is a bath with shower. One dog travels free. A rear garden with seating and a barbecue is shared with one other property on site; you have private parking for one car. The property is no-smoking throughout.

The location suits walkers particularly well—Offa's Dyke Path, Hay Bluff and The Black Mountains are all within reach—and Hay-on-Wye's bookshops and farmers' market lie a short drive away. The River Wye is near enough for a day's paddling if you hire a canoe locally. Village amenities and country walks begin at your door.
