A small pub-hotel in Hereford with just three rooms, a restaurant and bar, handy for the Wye Valley and Hereford Cathedral.

About The Plough Inn

A restaurant and bar sit at the heart of The Plough Inn, with breakfast served each morning and room service available for guests who'd rather not stray far. Packed lunches can be arranged too, useful for anyone heading out to walk or cycle the surrounding countryside, and drinks can be brought straight to the room.

There are just three rooms at this Hereford hotel, each with an en-suite bathroom, making it a compact and personal base rather than a large-scale operation. Family rooms are available, and outside there's a garden with outdoor seating alongside a games room for quieter evenings. Pets are welcome, and free on-site parking makes arriving by car straightforward.

The Plough Inn is well placed for exploring the Wye Valley and Hereford Cathedral, with walking and cycling routes nearby and watersports on offer for the more adventurous. Further pubs, bars and restaurants sit close by, plus entertainment options for evenings out, while 24 hour reception and business facilities including meeting rooms cover more practical needs.

Saturday in Hereford and summer feels well and truly here. It’s over 26 degrees and I really fancy a cider. I call into this pub near the city and it’s completely empty. I order a fruity cider and browse the luncheon menu. It’s not long before I opt for bangers and mash. I’ll also try the halloumi fries. The beer garden is peaceful and as luck would have it, I have it all to myself. Sam the bartender serves me another pint of cider. Then Vanda the cook serves my meal in under twenty minutes. It’s a hearty portion and the gravy is rich. A little bit on the gelatine side but that’s nitpicking. The sausages are cooked to perfection and the halloumi fries were very tasty. Another cider to wash it all down before I order a desert. The apple crumble tart and vanilla ice cream is a winner and I really enjoyed the afternoon. Staff are very attentive, friendly and welcoming. Great pub grub.

Don't ask for beer.... I've tried a few times under the current management.... First time was eventually presented with 3/4 of a cloudy pint (on a Monday) and told sorry we've run out but you can have this if you pay for a half.. I said I'd wait till they change the barrel to be told no beer (some call it real ale) till Friday. Have had a few mediocre pints since then today I was served a rather "chewy" pint. I asked politely "first one out" hoping for an acceptable replacement to be told "don't know how long it's been on mate, I don't really do real ale". So I left the pint minus one sip on the bar and said "I'll leave it with you". Popped into the Britt on my way home. Sorry guys we've tried to support you but either you won't listen to sense or really do think you are doing a great job. Either way. Good luck..... Thanks for your reply.... There was beer... A choice of two actually, unfortunately it was undrinkable. Perhaps a little attention paid by the staff to listen to the customer I'm sure the problem could have been rectified.
