About Slaley Hall
Northumberland's countryside around Hexham is the setting for Slaley Hall, a large hotel built around golf and relaxation as much as sightseeing. With 141 rooms, it has the scale of a proper country estate, surrounded by grounds that guests consistently describe as attractive and well worth a wander before or after a round on the courses.
The spa and gym give the place a resort feel, with treatments and facilities that draw praise, while the indoor swimming pool and sauna add to the wind-down options. There's a restaurant and bar on site, a snack bar for lighter bites, and the food itself is a strong point according to those who've stayed. Staff are noted as friendly and helpful throughout. That said, some rooms have been reported as tired or not as well kept as the grounds and facilities around them, so it's worth bearing in mind when booking.
Practical extras include free on-site parking, valet parking, porter and concierge services, laundry, and childcare, making it a reasonable base for both golf breaks and events such as weddings, which the hotel also hosts. Beyond the estate itself, guests can head into Hexham and the wider Northumberland countryside for heritage sites and scenery, with pubs, restaurants and other entertainment nearby too.

What guests say
Great getaway with the family. Lovely spa pool area and food was very nice but on the expensive side. Lovely walks of various distances which we went on the 3.5 mile longest route around the grounds. Overall a lovely getaway!

Beautiful grounds and a really comfortable stay overall. The rooms were very spacious and the bed was incredibly comfy. One small point was that there was a larger selection of products in the leisure centre than the ones provided in the rooms. The spa and pool area felt a little tired and dated in places, but it still had everything you’d expect for a spa visit — including a steam room, sauna, jacuzzi, pool, and plenty of loungers. Drinks at the bar were reasonably priced, which was a pleasant surprise. Breakfast was excellent. It was buffet style with a great selection, plus additional items that could be ordered fresh from the kitchen at no extra charge. The continental platter was particularly impressive — the cheese selection was better than many cheeseboards you’d get in restaurants! Overall, a lovely stay with great facilities, excellent breakfast options, and beautiful surroundings.

What a lovely place it was to be. Our room was good, but could do with a thorough cleaning. There was chocolate crumbs in 3 of our drawers for our clothes to go. Plates cups glasses outside our door till the next morning, they were not ours. Staff in the bar were great as was the restaurant staff. My wife doesn't like garlic so we asked for it not to be in her chicken, but was told it was not possible. Location was absolutely amazing. My wife had a spa treatment and it was also amazing. Will be go back?Yes we would give it an other chance.

A good experience over all. Booked as a birthday treat for the husband. Treatments were amazing and 'light' lunch was fabulous with amazing views across the golf course. Sauna & steam rooms were great. Negatives; Pool water was on the cold side and there wasn't enough lounger beds around the spa which couldn't be reserved while you went for your treatment. Also the was only one private changing room to change otherwise it was a communal changing. The carpet in the relaxation room was in need of attention (clean).
