About Stay On The Hill - The Coach House

A former coach house given a new life as guest accommodation, Stay On The Hill - The Coach House retains the low, solid outbuilding character of its origins while offering comfortable modern rooms on High Warden near Hexham. Its setting among the Northumberland hills makes it a quiet base with garden views and plenty of space around it, well suited to those wanting countryside rather than town-centre bustle.

Rooms come with en-suite bathrooms and family options for those travelling with children, along with drinks in the room and free WiFi throughout. Breakfast is included, and a packed lunch can be arranged for guests heading out for the day. Free on-site parking is available, and reception operates around the clock, so arrival times are flexible.

The surrounding area suits walkers and cyclists, with routes leading out into open countryside, and fishing and golf are both within reach. Hexham Abbey and Hadrian's Wall are close by for those wanting history alongside the outdoors, and nearby pubs, restaurants and other eateries cover evening meals beyond the property itself.

We stayed for one night and found the Coach House easily. We stayed in the Hadrian Room, which was clean and comfortable, with a very comfy bed. The only small gripe was that the tea, coffee and milk could have done with refreshing, and the milk cartons were out of date. Overall though, it was a good stay and we would happily stay again

We had a lovely stay over Christmas while visiting family. The rooms were exceptionally comfortable. I particularly appreciated the lovely bathroom for Hadrian. The Boatside is a great place to eat, and we were very handy for our visits to Hexham. The surrounding countryside is stunning: I was delighted that my Australian niece caught a glimpse of a deer.

HIghly recommend this beautiful location. We stayed in the Tyne room, which was large, warm and comfortable. Tasteful decor, gorgeous bed linen, everything was perfect. Excellent service, good directions. Literally faultless. Sadly we were only there for one night but we would love to return and enjoy the local countryside as well as the delicious sounding food in the local pub. Thank you Emma and James.
