About Hadrian Hotel - Inn
Just six rooms make up the Hadrian Hotel - Inn, a small village inn in Wall, near Hexham, where the restaurant does more of the talking than the bedroom count might suggest. The kitchen turns out dishes including perfectly cooked steak, slow-braised lamb and cod cheeks, and its tasting menu and Sunday roasts have become a particular draw for people well beyond the six guest rooms upstairs.
Those rooms keep things simple and traditional, in keeping with the inn's character, and guests also get free WiFi, breakfast, and a bar with a solid range of beers. There's a garden for warmer days, a snack bar for anything lighter, and free on-site parking, which matters given the rural setting. The place also handles weddings and has business services and porter services on hand, plus childcare available for families who need it.
Staff are consistently described as friendly, and the atmosphere is relaxed rather than formal, which suits its location in Wall - close to Hexham Abbey and Hadrian's Wall itself, with pubs, restaurants and other eateries nearby for anyone wanting to explore further afield. Pets are welcome too, making it an easy base for walking the Wall country round about.
What guests say
What a fantastic place! There were a couple of small problems with our room on arrival but these were quickly and efficiently remedied. Otherwise, the stay was perfect. We loved every minute of our time at this wonderfully stylish and welcoming hotel. The accommodation was excellent and the food was truly superb. Our room was incredibly spacious and included a coffee machine and really useful fridge alongside the usual amenities. The bed was very large and comfortable and had the most wonderful mattress which promised - and delivered - a great night’s sleep! Be aware that this property sits on quite a noisy road (mainly daytime), so it’s best to pack some ear plugs if you’re a light sleeper. The bathroom is big and bright and offers some top quality toiletries. Rather disappointingly, the room wasn’t serviced after our first night which was a bit surprising. There is a gastro pub in the hotel offering utterly sublime food with friendly service. The chef on both nights of our stay didn't put a foot wrong and each and every dish was perfect. The breakfast offering was also top notch. Order the night before and ensure that your cooked breakfast is efficiently delivered at a time to suit. Alongside a large selection of egg dishes, there’s the English Breakfast option made from quality ingredients and cooked to perfection. The dining room offers gorgeous views across the surrounding countryside which is a real bonus. We didn’t want to leave Hadrians at the end of our two night stay and have already booked a return visit even though we live more than three hours away! I’m just sorry that I can’t name check all the kind, friendly and efficient staff who looked after us during our two day stay at Hadrians Hotel, but for all of you reading this - thank you!

Popped in for dinner. Highly recommend the steak - probably the nicest we’ve ever had. Beautifully cooked and just melted in the mouth. Simply outstanding. Great service from very friendly and professional staff and a really pleasant venue. We will certainly be back!

Lovers of good food, this place is for you. In my opinion, this is the best food you can get in the area and reasonably priced for the quality. 3 friends and I ate in the pub (not the restaurant) for lunch and it was excellent. The starters in particular were brilliant. I had a haggis scotch egg and was cooked to perfection, clearly with love. My wife had the cod cheek which also was fab. The pub has a small selection of really nice beers, as well as the more standard ones. Come check it out!

Best Sunday lunch I've ever had. Yorkshire puddings were perfect and the slow braised lamb with jus was exceptional. Service with a smile. We chose to dine in the bar and there was a lovely mix of diners and locals popping in. Highly recommend. Compliments to the chef. We will return.
