For those who prefer a bit more comfort, glamping options in the wider Maldon district provide a good alternative to a standard tent, typically in the form of bell tents, shepherd's huts or static safari-style accommodation with proper beds and sometimes their own log burners or hot tubs. These tend to suit visitors keen on the estuary scenery and walking but less keen on cooking over a stove or coping with an exposed pitch in changeable Essex weather. Whichever option is chosen, the proximity to Heybridge Basin's pubs means a hot meal and a pint by the water are never far away after a day spent exploring the marshes.
