Lavender Cottage
High Peak

Buxton sits at the edge of the High Peak, surrounded by moorland and valley walks that draw people back year after year. The town itself has cafés, restaurants and the Opera House if you want an evening out, but most visitors come for the landscape. Lavender Cottage puts you a short walk from the centre, and close enough to the park to make it a genuine base for hiking and cycling rather than just a place to sleep.
The cottage is a 16th-century stone building with three bedrooms and three bathrooms, sleeping six. Each bedroom has its own en-suite. Downstairs there's a bedroom with a zip-and-link king bed; upstairs, the living space is open plan with a kitchen at one end fitted for proper cooking, and a sitting area with a dining table. A third bedroom is also on the first floor. Wi-Fi, electricity, bed linen and towels are included. The kitchen has a full oven, dishwasher, fridge and freezer. One dog is welcome. There's an enclosed courtyard with sitting-out space and a barbecue, plus a lawned garden area with more seating, and parking for three cars on site. No smoking inside.
Rushup Moor and the Tissington Trail are nearby for accessible routes. Castleton and Bakewell are each about twenty minutes' drive, and if you want the major attractions—Chatsworth, Haddon Hall, Lyme Park—they're within half an hour.

Bit cramped for what it was described as, but ok, walking distance to pub, what else matters?
