Michill Cottage

High Peak

Michill Cottage is a stone-built terraced house dating from the 17th century, positioned on a quiet lane in Castleton village. Step inside to find a living and dining room on the ground floor, along with a kitchen equipped for proper cooking—electric oven, gas hob, microwave and washing machine all present. Upstairs are two bedrooms: one with a double bed, the other with two singles, plus a shower room. The essentials are covered: heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi are all included, and there's a tumble dryer in an outbuilding for longer stays.

This is village-centre walking territory. A pub and restaurant stand 350 yards away; the shop is marginally further. From the cottage door, you can reach Cave Dale—a limestone gorge with footpaths—in five minutes on foot. Castleton itself holds four show caves and the ruins of Peveril Castle. Bakewell, Buxton, Chatsworth House and Lyme Park are all roughly 30 minutes' drive; Alton Towers about an hour. One well-behaved dog stays free. The cottage does not permit smoking. Parking is on road.
