Carron House is a contemporary detached home in Strathcarron, a quieter spot just over a mile from Lochcarron village on the shores of the loch. The house has three bedrooms and three bathrooms, sleeping up to five people, with your own gardens and the run of the entire property. One dog or cat stays free. A wood burner warms the ground-floor living room, where one sofa converts to a bed if needed; upstairs, a second living space opens onto a landing with views across Loch Carron towards the hills of Wester Ross. All three bedrooms are on the first floor—one has an en-suite with double basins—and a family shower room serves the others.
The open-plan ground floor centres on a hall and dining area with high ceilings and solid wood flooring, with French doors leading out to the patio and garden. Wifi, electricity, bed linen and towels are all included. Lochcarron has pubs, cafés, shops and a golf course open to visitors; a beach is 100 yards away. The surrounding hills offer walking, climbing, fishing and cycling, while the road to Applecross—rising over 2,000 feet at the highest pass—is a notable day out. Seals and otters frequent the shoreline; dolphins have been spotted in the bay. No smoking in the house.

Well laid out and spacious house, furnished to a high spec. We noted that many of the negative points made in previous reviews, such as the showers, had clearly been addressed and replaced with new fixtures. Comfortable living space, warm and well insulated, with logs provided for the fire. The house was very clean when we arrived and there were no signs of pet-hair or similar. The kitchen is well presented with a generous fridge/freezer and washing machine. The house is very much child-friendly, as we stayed as a family with young children. The area is beautiful with stunning scenery. Lochcarron is very accessible, with two shops and fuel stations. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Beautiful, stunning house. Furniture, kitchen utensils and crockery all to a high standard. Great views of Loch Carron. Bathrooms all well looked after, some shower heads are not attached properly and dont stay up. I would of loved the house to be a little bit cleaner on arrival, the sides in the kitchen needed cleaning when we arrived as they had smear marks on them, the kitchen taps had all marks and old food stuck round it which was abit disappointing. The master bath could have done with a good scrub had a scum mark around the top edge and the tiles had not been cleaned. There are stains on the upstairs carpets and on the downstairs furniture on the seats for the dining area and on the kitchen chairs. There is a bird nest outside the back top middle window, which is amazing as when you are sitting on the upstairs lounge you can see the birds flying in and out, but again it's a shame that the cleaner didn't clean the patio area as it had old bits of food and nest splattered all over the floor. Wouldn't have minded but it was alot and it's the access for the children and our dog to get outside. I absolutely loved the fact that the house had supplied hand soap in all the bathrooms and dishwasher tablets and fairy liquid were all supplied with tea towels and cooking aprons. Which was a wonderful surprise as we always forget these things. Overall the house is lovely, would we stay again for the money we paid, not sure.
