Portmahomack sits on the Tarbat Peninsula, one of Scotland's driest corners, and the village's working harbour is visible from Harbour Street's front garden. A sandy beach lies a short walk away, and the coastal path connects to other settlements along the Seaboard—some with roots in the 18th-century herring trade, others simply tucked away like Rockfield. Tarbat Ness Lighthouse is reachable on foot. The Dornoch Firth beyond the harbour regularly hosts dolphins, porpoises, seals and sea birds; orca occasionally pass through. A pub and restaurant operate in the village, along with a café and a golf course on the outskirts.
The cottage is arranged over two floors. Downstairs, a living room with Freeview Smart TV opens to a kitchen that has everything needed for self-catering. Upstairs are two bedrooms—one with a kingsize bed, one with two singles—and a shower room. The wrap-around garden is mostly lawn with a patio area facing the water, furnished for sitting out. Electricity, Wi-Fi, bed linen and towels are included. Parking is on road. No smoking inside.
