The Old School House is a converted 1980s school building that sits on the seashore near Applecross, with views across to Raasay, Rona and Skye. A quarter-mile track leads to the property, which stands within its own walled garden in a secluded spot that still puts you within reach of the village's restaurants and shop. The 2022 renovation kept original features—notably the high ceilings in what were once classrooms—while adding modern comforts throughout.
Three bedrooms and two bathrooms accommodate five guests. The living spaces retain character: the part-panelled living room and sitting room both have substantial windows for watching sunsets and the wildlife that passes through. The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering. Essentials like electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi are covered. One well-behaved dog can come with you. There is parking on site; no smoking indoors.
Sandy beaches lie three miles away at Sand, with Applecross Bay a further four miles beyond. The landscape around here suits walking, climbing, kayaking, cycling and fishing. Lake Maree, ringed with Caledonian pine, is worth a drive north. The area is known for deer sightings. The village itself has a couple of restaurants serving fresh seafood, a post office and a small store nine miles away.
