Waterside

The north-west Highlands around Loch Duich draw walkers, climbers and anyone after genuine remoteness. Waterside sits right on the water's edge, giving you direct access to the shore and views across the loch toward the Five Sisters of Kintail. Kyle of Lochalsh is 12 miles away with shops and restaurants; closer still are a pub and a small shop within walking distance. The Falls of Glomach lie further up the loch at Dornie.

This single-storey cottage sleeps three in one double and one single bedroom, with an ensuite shower room. The open-plan living space includes a kitchen with electric cooker, dishwasher and microwave, a dining area and a sitting room with TV and DVD player. Bed linen, towels and wifi are included. You get your own garden with patio and parking for two cars. There is no smoking inside the property.

What makes it unusual is the wildlife. The loch regularly brings seals, porpoises and otters close to shore, and there is a dedicated observation hide at the water's edge. Sea fishing from the rocks nearby is free; if you have a boat, there is a private slipway. A pine marten visits regularly. The Isle of Skye is within easy reach for a day trip.
