Gaucho Chancery Lane

Booked a private room on one of the hottest summer days in June. Was a bit disappointed that we were not pre-warned that the air conditioning was faulty. Only one fan was provided for a party of almost 20 people. The party soon became a sweaty affair. The only positive point was the service staff. Our service staff went above and beyond to attend to our group. She was polite, attentive, courteous and helpful. The kitchen staff also helped salvage the melting birthday cake which I really appreciated. We stayed till late and we weren’t rushed out. So thank you to the team but please fix the air conditioning in the private room on the lower floor. The food was delicious, I ordered from a set menu. The chicken was moist and flavourful. I was disappointed with the brownie which was cold. However the cookie dough arrived warm. Would I visit again, yes only because of the staff.

This was such a lovely experience. The server, Artur, went above and beyond to give me the best possible meal. And the food! It’s absolutely amazing, I ordered from the lunch set menu but there was no lack of quality. Will be returning. 10/10 restaurant.

We went for the £10 lunch menu but the “steak” sandwiches were incredibly disappointing. Each one contained just four of the smallest slivers of steak, leaving them mostly bread. We appreciate that it’s a budget menu, but this felt unnecessarily tight. A lower price shouldn’t mean serving such a minimal amount of the main ingredient. We left feeling let down and embarrassed that this was offered.

We spent New Year’s Eve at Gaucho and enjoyed a solid meal the milanaise and the fish were both well prepared and flavourful. Service from Renato stood out; attentive, warm, and genuinely invested in making the night feel special. The only drawback was our initial table placement right by the door. With the cold weather, it was uncomfortable, but the team handled it gracefully and found us a better spot mid‑supper, which made all the difference. Overall, a great place to celebrate, with good food, excellent service, and a team that knows how to turn a hiccup into a smooth evening.
