Spithandle Nursery Barn - The Old Packhouse

Photo: Louis Whittal

The Old Packhouse is a detached barn conversion built from period materials and character features—exposed timber beams run through the interior, slate floors ground the space, and a wood burning stove anchors the living area. Everything unfolds on a single storey around an open-plan room that combines living, dining and kitchen space, with a double bedroom and ensuite on one side and two singles plus a separate bathroom on the other. One pet is welcome here.

The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering, with electric oven, hob and all the usual appliances including dishwasher. Both bedrooms have direct access to a decked patio with garden furniture and a barbecue. Parking for two cars sits on the property. Essentials like electricity, heating, bed linen, towels and wi-fi are included, along with the initial wood for the stove. The nearest shop is a mile away; pubs and restaurants are two miles off. The South Downs lie close by, and the beaches at Worthing and Brighton are around 15 minutes' drive. This is a no-smoking property.

We so look forward to getting our tree from Spithandle Nursery every year. It’s such a special place: beautiful trees, hot chocolate by the fire, the best homemade mince pies… and everyone is always so friendly and helpful. We’ve just collected a gorgeous Christmas tree and look forward to visiting again next year.

Lovely experience due to the lovely people running the nursery! We cut our own tree at a reasonable price and were greeted with tea hot chocolate and laughter! I hope to make this our new xmas tradition.
