About Epchris House - Guest house
Breakfast is included each morning at Epchris House, and there's a bar on site for a drink later in the day, making this a guest house where meals bookend a stay without much need to leave the grounds. The property occupies two acres on Torrs Park in Ilfracombe, a 19th-century building with gardens and outdoor seating for warmer days, plus a swimming pool for guests who want to cool off between excursions.
There are seven rooms, all en-suite, described as light and airy, with free WiFi and drinks available in room. Accessible rooms are available, and a games room and meeting rooms add options beyond the usual guest house facilities. Free on-site parking is provided, and pets are welcome, which suits those travelling with dogs for the surrounding coastal walks.
The North Devon coast is on the doorstep, with walking and cycling routes nearby, along with watersports, fishing and a golf course for those wanting more active days out. A handful of pubs and restaurants sit within easy reach for evenings out, and entertainment options are close by too. Luggage storage is available for those breaking up a longer coastal trip.

What guests say
Epchris House is a hidden Gem, from the moment we arrived we were made to feel so welcome. Our room was just perfect and equipped with everything we could possibly need, but it was the little touches that made it perfect. A coffee machine as well as a kettle, fresh milk and water in the fridge, an array of tea & coffee options, and even a fleece blanket for a chilly evening! The room was spotlessly clean as was the bathroom. Breakfast menu was extensive and and even had an option of a sausage for our dog Mollie !! Attention to detail was exemplary !! Complimentary freshly baked cake was welcomed in the afternoon after a busy day exploring the dramatic coast. The Hotel also offered a enclosed dog exercise area and beautifully maintained gardens to relax in, we really didn't want to come home !!

Posting this here on behalf of my partner as Booking.com has not published her review for some reason. Just returned from a 4 night stay at Epchris House with my partner. I'll start by saying that the excellent reviews are completely justified - this is an absolutely outstanding b&b! In fact, this is the best place either of us have ever stayed before, and we have stayed in a fair few different places. The location is great, about a 10 minute walk from the Harbour and shops at Ilfracombe. The house and the grounds are stunning, the garden is large and really well kept, there is a patio with seating for enjoying breakfast or an evening drink and there is a ample amount of parking for the amount of rooms. The house itself is lovely, there is a communal games room/ bar area with a pool table, table tennis table and even an Xbox! There is an honesty bar with drinks and a book to write down what you have used so it can be added to your bill. There was also freshly baked cake to help yourself to everyday. Our room was at the top of the building and was perfect. Spotlessly clean, large bathroom with shower and a really comfortable bed. There was also a sofa, fridge and television. The view from the window was brilliant, you could see the sea on the horizon - really nice to wake up and look out of in the morning. The rooms come with breakfast included, and to say this is incredible would be underselling it. There are forms you fill in and leave downstairs before you go out for the day etc, and you tick boxes for what you would like for breakfast. There was a choice of a cereal, pastries, waffles, and the usual full English etc. My partner is vegan and he was so impressed with the selection of vegan friendly options, it was amazing. You can choose the timeslot you want from a few options and then it is all brought up for you to enjoy at the table in your room! You can also choose to have your breakfast out on the patio if you wish. We both loved Ilfracombe, it was a really charming place with lots to see and some nice independent shops. We visited the aquarium, went for a boat trip and did plenty of walking. You are also very close to Lynton and Lynmouth which is our favourite place and absolutely beautiful. You will not be stuck for things to do, but equally if you want to just relax then Ilfracombe is perfect. We will definitely be coming back. Cath was so welcoming and friendly, we felt at home as soon as we arrived. The team of staff were also excellent, always a smile when breakfast was delivered and whenever we needed things replenishing they were left for us without fail. We felt really spoiled to be honest, by the end we didn't want to go home! I can't recommend Epchris House enough, it was first class in every respect and Cath and her team should be so proud, it's a real gem. I just hope there is availability when we visit next!

We had the absolute pleasure of staying at Epchris House this weekend and we cannot believe our luck! The house and grounds are beautiful and so well located!! Our room was huge and airy, the bathroom was bright and the honesty bar is a lovely, trusting little touch where a certain drink was waiting for us in the fridge as requested. Breakfast is just phenomenal. There are no other words for it. A pre-breakfast basket containing our continental options is waiting at our door first thing! Then.... delicious, freshly cooked, hot food was served right to the door of our bedroom where it was eaten at the table overlooking wonderful views (and once in bed after a long day of walking!!) Cath is a brilliant host who goes above and beyond. Nothing was to much, before, during or after our stay! Thank you so much for having us! We will certainly be back!

A very memorable stay at Epchris house. From our arrival we were welcomed to a beautiful and well-maintained B&B. The room was spacious and comfy. A bar and lounge area even with an Xbox and table tennis and pool, plus who could say no to delicious cake baked daily? (and thank you for kindly letting us peek at the recipe!) The host Cath was always on hand to provide helpful tips and dinner recommendations and made us feel right at home, even supplying all the room dairy alternatives etc. Breakfasts served in room were delicious and such a treat, and in general Ilfracombe was the perfect base for our day trips west to Clovelly, Croyde and others, and east across Exmoor to Dunster, Lynton and Lynmouth. We enjoyed dinner and strolling through Ilfracombe itself and would definitely return next time we're in the area.
