About Bunchrew House Hotel

Dinner and breakfast are taken seriously at Bunchrew House Hotel, with a restaurant that draws praise for both the evening menu and the morning spread, backed up by a bar for a quieter drink afterwards. The kitchen's reputation is one of the main reasons people return, alongside staff who are consistently described as attentive and welcoming.

The hotel itself is a historic house set in grounds of ancient trees on the Beauly Firth, just outside Inverness in the Highlands. Its 16 rooms are en-suite and generally spacious and comfortable, with room service and drinks available in room, and accessible rooms on offer for those who need them. The gardens and firth views give the place a settled, relaxing atmosphere that suits a slower pace of stay, and it's also used as a wedding venue.

Free on-site parking makes arriving straightforward, and 24 hour reception covers whatever time you get in. Golf and fishing are both available nearby, and Culloden Battlefield is within reach for those wanting a historical outing, while Inverness itself is a short distance away for shops, pubs and restaurants beyond the hotel's own.

Overall would never recommend due to the uncleanliness (toe nails, dust, dirt). Unfortunately, we did not have the experience we hoped for. While we knew it would be old and looked forward to the charm everyone speaks about, the room was absolutely not cleaned to any standard, especially a 4 star. We booked for 3 nights and the 1st night we found someone else’s toe nail clippings next to the bed, indicating a lack of cleaning that is unacceptable. We also were having extreme allergic reactions as the room had not been dusted clearly for a very long time - the bed frame was covered in dust. For $500 USD/night, you’d also expect the bed to be comfortable at the very least, but they use the thinnest mattress and scratchiest sheets. Truly felt as if we were staying in a 1 star motel with how the room was. The rest of the grounds were beautiful but if you do not have proper cleaning, it is completely unacceptable and unsanitary. The woman at the front desk promptly apologized and gave us a 3 night refund which was appreciated. We received 2 hours of sleep and major allergy attacks. We switched over to the 5 star River Ness and had an amazing experience for the same price. Would not risk staying here at all.

Beautiful historic hotel on the water front. The building, the grounds, the staff were all lovely. The restaurant in particular was of a quality that I did not expect to find outside of London. The rooms were comfortable and dog-friendly, but could have been a bit cleaner.

We spent 3 nights at Bunchrew House (Duncan Forbes room). It’s a historic house converted into an Inn with a first class restaurant. The setting, just outside of town, on the banks of the Beully Firth is incredibly peaceful and a quiet respite from the city. You almost feel as if you’re traveling back in time. Can’t say enough good things about the staff. Very helpful and accommodating. Dinner at the restaurant and a scotch whisky in the lobby bar was a real treat.
