I attended a wedding at the Lochardil Hotel (as best man) in mid-February 2026. We can all honestly say it was flawless. Mick, the hotel manager, was instrumental in the successful day and organised the wedding details and his friendly group of staff exceptionally well. I was also massively happy with the room I was given. Large, clean, and with a small outside patio (Room 23). Thanks Mick and the Lochardil team for making my friend's wedding such a successful occasion.

We recently stayed at Lochardil House and had mixed feelings about our experience. The hotel itself is beautiful and very well maintained, with a cosy and charming atmosphere. The manager was friendly, and our room was clean and tidy. Unfortunately, several aspects of our stay were disappointing. There was a wedding taking place during our visit, which we completely understand is not the hotel’s fault, but the wedding guests were extremely loud and noisy until around 5:30 AM. One guest even accidentally walked into our room, which was quite unsettling. Dinner was also underwhelming, with very limited options on the menu and service that was hard to come by—likely due to staff being occupied with the wedding. Breakfast was another letdown. We came down at 8:50 AM and almost everything had already run out, including the juices, and nothing was replenished. While we could order something from the menu, it did not make up for the lack of a proper breakfast selection. The Wi-Fi was also poor, and at check-out there was little interest shown in our stay—we were barely acknowledged and not asked how our experience had been. Overall, the hotel has a lot of charm and potential, but unfortunately the service and disruption during our stay meant the experience did not live up to expectations.

Would not recommend. Rooms are very small with no air conditioning. We had three windows in our room but only one would open very slightly so are very small room was stifling. The house keeper kept turning on our bathroom warmer during the day so our room was even extra hot at night. Furniture and furnishings were very old and creaky.

On arrival we walked into a beautifu, warm hallway which was especially inviting as it was 0°C outside. We were a few hours early but that wasn't a problem to checking in as our room was ready. Our room was lovely and warm and had all the facilities. Loved the coffee bags and bottled water. We didn't know we couldn't dine in the the hotel outwith breakfast so ate out both days. Breakfasts were lovely and everything tasty, clean and tidy. All staff lovely and friendly and we were made to feel welcome. It's nice to see older hotels having maintenance and updates on them and it's reflected here. Gardens are lovely too and must be ideal for wedding photographs. There is a number 7 bus from outside the hotel every hour - not Sundays. Otherwise it's a 40 minute walk to the city. A lovely break.
