About Novotel Ipswich Centre
Novotel Ipswich Centre occupies a modern building on Greyfriars Road, close to the Buttermarket shopping centre and a short walk from both the railway station and the Waterfront. It is a reliable, family-friendly option for anyone wanting a familiar chain-hotel standard in the middle of town rather than a boutique alternative.
Rooms are spacious by chain-hotel standards, with sofa beds available in family rooms, and the hotel has a small fitness centre alongside its restaurant and bar. On-site parking is available, which is a genuine advantage in a town where street parking can be limited.
Its central position makes it an easy base for a short break built around the museums and shops, and its size and consistency suit business travellers and conference visitors as well as leisure guests.
What guests say
My stay at Novotel Ipswich was genuinely pleasant, thanks above all to the exceptional kindness and sensitivity of Shaun, who immediately understood my situation and allowed me to park free of charge due to my disability. His professionalism and empathy made a real difference — a level of care that deserves recognition. Also his colleagues James and the Man of the breakfast Geoff. All of them really kind and smiling. The room itself was very comfortable, clean, and well prepared. The hotel is certainly an older structure, but it is maintained extremely well and kept spotlessly clean, which speaks highly of the management and housekeeping team. Everything felt orderly, functional, and welcoming. Overall, my experience at Novotel Ipswich was excellent. A well‑kept hotel, a comfortable room, and above all, staff who truly care about their guests. Shaun’s outstanding service was the highlight of my stay and reflects the standards every Accor hotel should strive for. Highly recommended. And Accor chain always top!

Novotel Ipswich Centre is a great hotel. It is placed conveniently around a lot of things, including Portman Road. The hotel is huge, with a ground floor, 2nd floor, 3rd floor, and 4th floor. The room was very nice, with a TV, free condiments, a desk, both a double and a single bed, and, surprisingly, some extras, a fridge and a safe (although the safe didn't work). An extra thing to note is that there are 2 separate rooms for toiletry needs. One room contains the toilet, and the toilet only, while the other room contains a shower, a bathtub, and the bathroom sink. Overall, the room is good, and we managed to get 2 rooms thanks to some sort of offer.

Great last-minute price and excellent overall service during my stay. However, the checkout process was very frustrating. There was only one staff member at the desk dealing with a lengthy issue, and a large line quickly formed. The lone worker (big guy, had a racist vibe to him) didn’t acknowledge the wait, call for backup, or provide an estimated wait time. After standing in line for 20 minutes, I had to leave without formally checking out just to get on with my day. I hope management addresses front desk and staff members.

I was greeted at reception by Troy, who was very polite, welcoming and helpful when arriving. He did everything he could to help me with my check in arriving later in the evening and made the process very easy for me with his clear explanations and information. Even remembering to ask if I had driven to the hotel for guest parking. Which was great as this information normally gets missed when we have stayed at other hotels. I didn't drive up, but had arrived by train. The hotel was very easy to find and was in a short walking distance from Ipswich railway station.
