Lochranza Golf, Caravan and Camping Site
Lochranza, Isle of Arran KA27 8HL, UK
A golf-course campsite in the north, grazed by red deer each evening
About Lochranza Golf, Caravan and Camping Site
This small site beside Lochranza Golf Course in Arran's north is best known for the red deer that wander down from the surrounding hills to graze the fairways most evenings, often close enough to watch from a tent door. Pitches suit tents, tourers and motorhomes, with limited electric hook-ups and a shower block shared with golf club visitors. The setting is more exposed than sheltered southern sites—sitting close to Arran's northern hills means changeable Highland-edge weather—but the trade-off is scenery and wildlife on the doorstep.
Lochranza village, the distillery and the ruined castle at the head of the loch are all within easy walking distance, making this a practical base for whisky tours or an early start on the coastal path north towards Catacol. The site's small scale and peaceful pitch keep it a quieter option than the larger touring parks further south on the island. Dogs are welcome.

What visitors say
An absolutely delightful spot, just a mile and a half from the Lochranza ferry. Beautifully scenic and a friendly welcome. Facilities were fine. A good walk to the Lochranza inn for a scenic beer and across the road to the distillery. So peaceful. Staff delay with a water issue well and handed out bottled water as soon as they could. A real gem of a site.

Can't comment on the camping as we popped by to have a go at the pitch and putt. Very friendly staff and very reasonably priced for 3 very amateur golfers (two adults and one 13 year old) to have a go. Lovely relaxed atmosphere and a fantastic location. Red deer on the course and spotted a golden eagle within seconds of leaving the site. A nice way to spend an hour or two.

Great campsite with decent toilet/shower block and ‘basecamp’ seating area. Fantastic views, a quick walk to the Arran distillery, a golf course next door and a short walk to the old castle and bay. Not cheap but worth it!

My partner and I stayed here for one night after visiting the distillery and before climbing Goats Fell and getting the Lochranza Ferry. The staff were extremely helpful and polite giving us a good tour when we first arrived. The facilities were immaculately clean and fairly priced. Gorgeous views from our park up including the nesting golden eagles on the hill.
