Pub in Carisbrooke with showers and a soft play area for children.

About Wight Bells

Wight Bells is a pub on Carisbrooke High Street with showers available to guests. It has a soft play area, making it unusual among Isle of Wight pubs, and sits among local shops and services—the post office and a supermarket are just across the street.

The menu focuses on traditional pub food: steak, fish and chips, and other standards. Pricing is reasonable. The atmosphere suits families, though service can be inconsistent—some diners find staff attentive and welcoming, while others report less helpful interactions. If you're looking for a pub base with facilities rather than a dedicated campsite, this works for a short stay on the island.

Lovely sunday roast! Great serving portion ❤️🤤 Staff are alert with reservations, they have spacious parking, indoor and outdoor play area, servers seem shy but give a smile when they provide what we requested. Great service. Contrary to other reviews I read before, the sunday roast beef and gammon has a big portion when we went here. Would love to come back again, kudos!

We had a great meal here yesterday! Very accommodating to our dog and friendly staff. Food was hot, tasty and we didn’t have to wait long at all. We will definitely be back!

Nice family place to visit, I visited here on a Friday it was quite quiet at mid day. There is plenty of things for the kids to do outside from swings, play equipment, bounced castle and more, a few it's of play equipment has seen better days now but it is all looked after and clean, the outside area is a lovely place to sit with some nice views. The car park is a good size as well. We didn't have any food this visit but when we have in the past we have not been disappointed.

A nice lunchtime at the Eight Bells with my partner and her little one. Reserved a table (which is required) and bought drinks, then used the soft play area, which the little one thoroughly enjoyed. Then went through and ordered food using the handy app, staff were friendly and welcoming and the food didn't take too long to come through considering how busy it became. My partner had the hunters chicken with straight fries and I had the (2 x 4oz) cheesy porker burger with an extra patty and was able to customise the bacon (I like crispy), with a portion of coleslaw and fries. All were cooked very well and tasted lovely... Eating area was well presented, good facilities for kids, there is an extra area at the back of the premises for walks and a duck pond, especially good in the warmer weather. Good sized car parking area with level entrance for accessibility requirements. Well worth the visit...
