Windmill Campersite

We stayed here over the weekend and absolutely loved it. If you're comparing the price to a chain hotel like a Holiday Inn, you're completely missing the point. You're not paying for a standard room, you're paying for an experience! This place is more like an adventure park than a campsite. Everywhere you look there's something quirky, creative or unexpected. From the themed accommodation and converted vehicles to the silent disco, disco shower, outdoor cinema, honesty shop, communal pizza oven and all the little hidden details, you can tell how much thought, imagination and hard work has gone into creating it. The facilities were spotless, the atmosphere was relaxed and friendly, and the hosts made everyone feel welcome. It's one of those rare places where adults get just as excited as the kids because there's always something new to discover. We found ourselves constantly saying, "Have you seen this?" or "Come and look at that!" Even after a whole weekend we were still spotting quirky little touches we'd missed before. If you're looking for a plain room to sleep in, book a hotel. If you're looking for somewhere that creates memories, makes you smile and gives you something completely different, this place is worth every penny. We'll definitely be back! 💖

So good. This place is the real deal. We stayed in Ellie and had Insanity pulled up next to us for our older kids. Both our accomodation (and the whole site in general) is surreal and beautiful and full of surprises. It was also really clean and comfortable (you won't have a fight if your hands to get your kids to have a disco shower) and full of cool stuff that we have never had a camp (dishwasher!)

This is the best campsite in the UK. Small, beautifully maintained, bizarre and surreal but also classy and genuinely funny. If you like remote and basic camping, this is not for you. If you like a brilliant and original site, location and facilities, then this is most definitely for you. It is everything it says on here website and more. We can’t wait to go back. For context, we were camping in our own van. The other accommodation we saw looked gorgeous and beautifully furnished. Get yourselves to this campsite!

We (2-adults, 4-year old & 6-year old, and family dog), stayed in Galahad for the early May bank holiday and had the best time. Galahad was incredible: The balance struck between keeping the authentic helicopter feel and providing a comfortable place to stay was so well done. The boys loved playing in and around the helicopter, because as good as Galahad is, the rest of the site is what elevates Windmill Campersite to something truely special. From the Black Pearl (could barely get the boys out of there), to the converted double decker bus kitchen and diner, to the grain silo/space module cinema, to the Robin Relient Laundromat, to the beautiful communal fire pit and eating area. Everything about Windmill Campersite oozes labour of love. Madcap inventor Caractacus Potts (from Chitty Bang Bang) would be inspired by the creativity and vision on show. This is a special place.
