We visited for five nights in May 2026 and could not have had a better experience. Leigh and Mat are very welcoming. Every morning we looked forward to Leigh’s cheerful presence at breakfast and Mat’s cooking. Leigh amazed us with her knowledge of the area. Each morning she had maps and suggestions for the guests as they planned their day. Her grandfather was a founder of the Keswick Mountain Rescue so her roots and knowledge are deep. Her daily baked cakes, left to grab in little bags, were especially welcome. The inn’s location is quiet but still an easy walk to town center and Hope Park. Our room (room 1) was beautiful and the bathroom clean and spacious. We would return again! Thank you, Leigh and Mat!

Super charming and clean. 6 minute walk to downtown. What made this place special was Leigh. She and Mat served up scrumptious made to order breakfasts every day. She was an Energizer bunny(in a good way!) meeting our every need. What hikes to take. Where to eat. What towns to visit and how to get there. She gave us maps, more food, great ideas for our days….all with passion and a lovely smile. Even oat cakes and nutritious breads at the door for our daily hikes. Couldn’t rate them any higher! Unfortunately every place we’ve stayed since we left Allerdale has not close to reaching their standards

Great stay at Allerdale House!!! The room was large and the bed comfy. The breakfasts were great and Mat and Leigh were the best hosts of our entire trip. Over the top friendly and helpful with tips and maps. The location could not be beat for walking convenience all over Keswick. Don’t hesitate!! Book now!!

Had a lovely stay at the Allerdale. Leigh was kind and helpful in the mornings, always offered up recommendations with things to do or places to eat. Breakfast was well done with good selection. Parking was immensely helpful in such a busy town. Room was comfortable.
