Warm Cumbrian Welcome! Ian and the staff were excellent, with a real sense of originality about this hotel and were very personable. On checking in, the manager Ian helped us out, ensuring we had parking, got a view of the mountains, and recommended a good curry restaurant. English Breakfast was excellent, with an extensive menu, multiple healthy options, and attentive staff who provided top-up coffee and tea. Fully recommended for future visits. Ideal for UK travellers and foreign visitors who want a friendly, clean, professional Hotel with a great location and view, and the memory of a warm Cumbrian welcome.

Trudged in late on Day 3 of the Cumbria Way after only booking that afternoon and met at the door by lovely staff. Comfortable rooms and a great shower (which was well needed) waited for us. In the morning, a great view from our room and a lovely breakfast with all the right stuff and good coffee. Highly recommend for anyone passing through.

Great staff but the room smelled damp. Breakfast options were rather limited (beans on toast and cheese on toast - are you joking?! see photo), but service was good with lots of staff on hand.

Rooms felt homely, has a olden feel to it but had a modern seemingly recently renovated bathrooms. Breakfast was fancy and clean, had no grease whatsoever. View from the window was great seeing over the lake and fields.
