About Swinside Inn
A traditional stone inn of two floors, Swinside Inn sits among the fells of Newlands Valley, just outside Keswick, with the kind of setting that does much of the talking before you've even checked in. There are only six rooms, so it has the feel of a proper country pub rather than a hotel, with en-suite bathrooms, family rooms available, and drinks that can be brought straight to your room.
The kitchen turns out well-presented food made with good ingredients, and the menu runs to a fair variety, though it's worth knowing the prices sit a little higher than you might expect for a valley pub. Breakfast, packed lunches and kids' meals are all catered for, and there's a bar for an evening pint by the fire or, weather permitting, a seat in the garden looking out towards the mountains. Staff are attentive and the atmosphere is cosy, which regulars and passing walkers alike seem to appreciate.
Free parking is provided on-site, and reception is staffed around the clock. The surrounding area is built for walking and cycling, with fishing and watersports nearby too, plus other pubs and restaurants within reach for those who fancy a change of scene. Pets are welcome, making it a straightforward base for exploring the Lake District on foot.

My third stay at Swinside - amazing location with easy access to so many walks. Close to Keswick too if you need provisions. Excellent service from everyone we encountered. Special shout out to Amanda who went the extra mile. The rooms were fine, but nothing special. Bathroom was tiny - I had trouble physically getting in the shower. Everything was clean and well maintained. I think our room was above the kitchen as it got a bit smelly sometimes and nights got noisy as the tidied up. Like the rooms, the food was perfectly fine - but nothing of note.

This place is such a gem! Rooms are really great, everything you need. Management and staff make your stay very homely. Chefs are very good. My only comment would be a few more vegan/veggie options would be great. We want to book again before we’ve even left. Also on a practical level, so many options to walk to from the hotel without 20 mins approx, Keswick 10 mins drive and has lots of things to do

Excellent food! It’s rare you find food this good. Full of flavour, great quality ingredients - we will be back. Just one thing needed to make it complete - linen napkins. With the high quality food you were serving, the paper napkins just didn’t cut it.
