The Mount B&B

We had a really enjoyable 5 nights at The Mount and Caroline made us welcome straight away with tea and cake on arrival. Ours was the rooftop front bedroom which was clean, comfortable, with lake and mountain views and a spotless ensuite with a decent shower and fresh white towels. Breakfast at the communal dining table was a great choice of fresh, locally sourced options among other friendly guests, some of whom have been returning for years, which is always a good sign. Caroline and Clive are excellent hosts and a mine of information on local hikes, cycling, swimming and kayaking, all of which they have done with their family and The Mount has a useful website with information for guests. Keswick is an easy 15-20 minute riverside walk away and the local bus stops right outside the house. We travelled from London by train and bus, which was more relaxing than driving and we had no difficulty getting around, although you do have to be flexible with bus timetables and they can get full at peak times. We also hired electric bikes from Whinlatter bikes in the main street, which made exploring the lakeside trails and steep mountain passes an enjoyable doddle, with no worries about parking at places of interest. There's a great choice of places to eat locally and we would advise booking at the more popular ones, although we were lucky with walk-ins and never went hungry. Weather was drizzly, sunny, warm, chilly and instantly changing, but there's no lakes without rain and no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing. We will be back for more!

Had a lovely wee stay here .. me,husband and our dog Jaxson. Caroline and Clive were friendly helpful and welcoming ( with tea and cake) Room was spacious,comfortable,spotless and well appointed.and the property is in the perfect location. Its definitely on my return list on my future adventures with Jax..the shepherds hut has my name on it!!!! S

We stayed at the Mount BnB in July and it was the perfect place to base ourselves for a short holiday in the lake district. The rooms were beautiful and the the food was fantastic. We even had an unexpected welcome tea and cake on arrival. Clive and Caroline go out of their way to make you feel at home and welcome. I would highly recommend staying here!
