Rafters Barn

Rafters Barn is a converted farm building on Thorpland Manor Farm, a working rural estate in the Norfolk Fens near Kings Lynn. The property sleeps four across two double bedrooms and comes as your own self-contained space, though you'll have access to shared facilities across the farm. The ground floor holds a living and dining area with a kitchen equipped for proper cooking—oven, hob, dishwasher and all the basics—plus a utility room. Upstairs are the two bedrooms and a bathroom with a bath and shower.

The barn sits within grounds that offer more than just a quiet base. A heated outdoor swimming pool (available May to September) and shared hot tub mean active days needn't involve leaving the property, while a games room with pool table suits rainy afternoons. Children will find a play area with wooden structures and swings on site. The farm itself has fishing available and walking routes through its own land. Bed linen, towels and wi-fi are all included; heating and hot water are taken care of. There's a courtyard patio with garden furniture and a barbecue for your own use.

The wider area has genuine appeal for days out: Oxburgh Hall, a moated manor house from 1482, lies within reach, as do glassblowing demonstrations at Langham Glass, butterfly parks, water gardens and antiques barns. The flat, open landscape of the Fens is crossed by footpaths and quiet lanes. Note that no smoking is permitted inside the property.
