The Innkeep is a two-bedroom cottage sleeping four, housed in what were once two small dwellings attached to a former village pub. The oldest sections date back to the 1600s, though the interior has been thoroughly refurbished. The owners live in the adjoining building and are on hand if you need anything during your stay.
Downstairs holds the living room with a Freeview Smart TV and Bluetooth speaker, a well-equipped kitchen with electric oven, gas hob, microwave, fridge, dishwasher and washing machine, plus a bathroom featuring both a bath and separate shower cubicle. Upstairs are two bedrooms—one with a king-size bed and one with a double—each with its own TV. Electricity, bed linen and towels are included. The enclosed rear garden has a patio and furniture for sitting outside; private parking accommodates two cars. One pet stays free. Smoking is not permitted.
Watlington offers a pub and restaurant within the village, with takeaways easily available. The wider area holds numerous heritage attractions including Castle Rising and Castle Acre, while the Norfolk coast is accessible for those wanting to explore further afield.

An interesting, comfortable historic cottage with a very safe garden which dogs can’t escape from. The only drawback was the very steep stairs - no problem for younger, agile people (we are in our 80s). I would rate it at 4.75 if I could, but had to settle for 4. Not quite 5 because of the stairs.

Wonderful cottage for our first visit to Norfolk and what a fabulous find! Stayed 4 nights February 13-17th 2025 Lounge - SO comfortable, inviting and well equipped with more brochures and reading than we had time to get through. Adjoining open plan with great dining area and large table. Kitchen - Good size and again, nothing has been omitted. Welcome pack much appreciated. Garden - 100% secure and perfect for our golden retriever. Bedroom one - plenty of hanging and storage. Bed super comfortable. (We didn’t use bedroom two but looked comfortable and well decorated) A great addition is having a TV in both bedrooms. Stairs - off dining room. Quite steep and winding. We and our dog managed but really not suitable for anyone with walking issues as bathroom is downstairs. Bathroom - Enormous with fabulous decor and extra large bath and large shower. Toiletries included although we had taken our own so didn’t use. Parking - more than enough room for two cars. Owners - Paul & his Mum are super friendly and nothing was too much bother. They are very laid back and we felt that we had known them for years! Thankyou The only negative is not with the cottage but local amenities. Local pub is a good 10 minute walk away and stopped serving food at 4pm on Sunday. A nice fish & chip shop less than 10 minutes walk. Convenience store for emergencies. Other than that Watlington is a very quiet village and a car is necessary. Surrounding areas are very rural & agricultural which is very relaxing.

Just returned from a week in this lovely, quirky, chocolate box cottage. Pet friendly for real - our lab was very welcome. Safe, secure garden with seating. Owners live next door and were available if needed. Everything you need is in this cottage! Also a quaint village in a great location for exploring. Wouldn't hesitate to return and highly recommend it.
