About Tailrace Inn

Rooms at the Tailrace Inn are simple and en-suite, with drinks available to bring up and mountain views from the windows over Kinlochleven. There are only six of them, so the place feels more like a small guesthouse than a hotel, though a few rooms could do with some freshening up in places.

Downstairs is where the inn earns its keep. The bar and restaurant serve hearty pub food, with the venison pie and fish and chips regularly singled out, alongside a solid range of beers. Staff are friendly and the atmosphere is cosy, making the bar a proper gathering spot after a day outdoors. Breakfast is included, and there's a garden and outdoor seating for warmer days, plus 24 hour reception and free on-site parking.

Kinlochleven sits within reach of Glencoe and Ben Nevis, making the inn a practical base for walkers and climbers. Fishing, further pubs and restaurants, and walking routes are all nearby, and the surrounding mountain scenery is there to be enjoyed straight from the doorstep.

Went to watch the wc match - unfortunately england beat Norway. Anyway, the staff were not keen to stay open. I felt really sorry for a Czech family. They had already eaten food there, had some drinks and wanted to watch the game. One of the staff told them they had to leave as their 16 old was too young once the kitchen was closed BS. I reckon they wanted to thin the crowd down as an excuse to close. Poor people had to leave. 3 less Norwegian supporters. Eventually, the pub got busy regardless. Bunch of English supporters came in, sat at the same table the poor Czech family were at. Tight "people", meself and a few Swedes guilted them into buying a few beers. Probably 3 among 7. We did this a few times during the game. I reckon the poor Czech family spent more than the tight english 7. Pub had a Fin, French, 3 Swedes, 1 Norwegian a Polish character and his english partner. A few Scots too. All bar the tight 7 and the partner supported Norway. Lovely location though.

Stopped here on the West Highland Way for some food, had some gluten free and vegan options. I got a GF veggie burger and it was very good. Small pub but great for a bit of food!

Can be dropped off by the bus right outside the inn. Rooms are nice, double bed is smaller than normal, both the length and the width are smaller. The halls creak VERY loudly whenever someone walks down them. Service in the restaurant and pub is exceptional!

I read some horror stories about mold: NO ISSUES WHATSOEVER. Bed is a bit old, not the best sleep but it was a roof over our heads and a warm blanket. We did not eat here, breakfast was a bit too late for us.
