About Orchard Club

Orchard Club occupies a 300-year-old Georgian townhouse on York Place in central Knaresborough, previously known as Newton House. The building combines its period features — high ceilings, sash windows and a handsome facade — with more contemporary comforts inside.

Rooms come with en suite bathrooms and complimentary toiletries, and the guest sitting room houses what is jokingly billed as the smallest bar in Knaresborough, run on an honesty basis for residents. Free off-street parking behind the property is a genuine advantage in a town where parking can be tight.

The guesthouse's breakfast has picked up regional recognition in the past for its use of fresh, local ingredients, and it remains a highlight of any stay. Its central location puts the Market Place, castle and riverside all within an easy walk, making it a good option for visitors without a car who still want a characterful place to stay.

Very well presented family hotel, kind and considerate staff, breakfast great! Spacious rooms, immaculately clean with on site parking. Fabulous location right in the town centre too. No air conditioning in the rooms but came with large pedestal fan so not too warm even in the heatwave. Hard to fault, would recommend.

Ok, this is a Marmite thing; either you're going to love it or hate it! Personally, we loved it! Packed with character, big rooms sensitively furnished, giving a nod to its 300 year history whilst offering modern day conveniences like a wine fridge (with wine) beers and soft drinks, all reasonably priced and payable on checkout. Lovely staff and great breakfasts (try the Eggs Benedict 😋). We had a big room upstairs with a street view, great big bed a good sized TV for a hotel room. Importantly for Knaresborough they have ample parking at the rear of the building. One more thing, although I wasn't aware of it when we booked, you can get a bread making lesson! Maybe next time. Would we return? Oh yes, without a doubt.

Booked the family room for myself, partner and 5 year old. Proper bed for child which is nice to see as opposed to a pull out bed. Family room separate to main building, very private and large which was nice. Only downside was the rooms were quite dated… old carpets and furnishings. Clean white bedding and nicely made beds though. Main bed was huge, much larger than a double. Location was perfect for center of Knaresborough. The Mother Shiptons inn at the bottom of the hill was great for food on an evening. Large car park for the hotel too with loads of space. Breakfast was good at the hotel. Overall I would stay again
