Park Cliffe Camping and Caravan Estate

Birks Rd, Windermere LA23 3PG, UK

Family holiday park above Windermere with a bar, restaurant and hardstanding pitches

About Park Cliffe Camping and Caravan Estate

Park Cliffe sits on a hillside above the eastern shore of Windermere, a few miles south of Bowness off the A592, on an estate of around twenty-five acres of fell and woodland. This is a properly equipped holiday park with a clubhouse, aimed squarely at families and touring caravanners rather than wilderness-seekers, and it holds a long list of regional tourism awards for good reason.

The pitch mix is broad. There are 28 hardstanding touring pitches with 10-amp electric hook-ups, water and drainage, suitable for caravans, motorhomes, campervans, trailer tents and roof tents, plus separate grass tent fields on terraced ground with views across to the Coniston fells. Glamping units and holiday accommodation are also available. Facilities include modern heated shower blocks, laundry, a games room, a children's playground, free wi-fi across the site, a shop and a clubhouse with a bar and a breakfast restaurant. Dogs are welcome.

The location works well for a mixed holiday. Bowness and the Windermere lake cruises are about ten minutes by car, Newby Bridge and the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway are a similar distance south, and the site is close enough to the M6 at junction 36 to make arrival straightforward. The terraced tent pitches are on a slope, so choose your spot with care and expect to work at getting level. Prices start from around twenty-eight pounds a night, rising sharply in school holidays, and peak weekends need booking well in advance.

Amazing! We really enjoyed our stay from start to finish. The staff were so friendly and helpful, and the whole site had a lovely, relaxing atmosphere. We stayed in a tent and had a fantastic time. The only small suggestion I’d make is that it would be great if the pub was open a little more during the day for food and drinks. Other than that, everything was lovely. We would definitely return in the future and would happily recommend it to others

This was a lovely site with great facilities. The showers were clean and warm with private ones available if required. There was a food truck who supplied tasty food that could be eaten in the pub if weather is very wet or windy. Pitches were well prepared and water was available as well as electric if booked. The shop was fairly well stocked and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Child playground and dog walk area were available. There was a games room and bingo on a couple days. Other pods and caravans were also available if you wanted to come without your own sleeping quarters. The surrounding areas were beautiful with loads of walks and Windermere is not far if other foods or things are needed. Definitely one of the best spots I have been to since I had my camper.

We stayed here for 2 nights (Saturday and Sunday) in a tent for the first time. It was absolutely fantastic. Its just a 5/ 10 min drive from self launch point on lake windermere, so we went kayaking before check in. Staff was friendly, we got a good spot by the stream and the food at the food truck was amazing. The toilet and shower block is also in brilliant condition and was always clean. Our boys (2 & 6yo) spent much of the time playing in the stream. There's a good on site play area (slide, swing, climbing frames) with lots of good rocks to climb too. The park also leads to a decent hill to climb with gives a good view of the lake and surrounding hills. We will definitely be back!!

I dont have anything constructive to say! All areas of the campsite were incredible nad great value. The campsite is dog friendly and going outside of school and bank holidays the campsite was quiet and peaceful. The staff were all incredible and our dog was welcomed in the onsite pub and given copious amounts of treats. Food availability from the food truck on site was delicious and reasonably priced for breakfast, lunch and dinner if that is how you fly, especially for the portions you received! Facilities were always clean and well maintained, some of the best campsite facilities I have been to, where the showers were actually warm/hot! The only advice I would give is that if you travel with your pets, make sure their flea, tick and worming are up to date. Its an area thing in the Lakes and you might have some sneaky little hitchhikers.
