About Storrs Hall Hotel

Afternoon tea at Storrs Hall Hotel comes with freshly baked scones and neatly presented sandwiches, while the Bistro and main restaurant have built a reputation for cooking that goes well beyond standard hotel fare. There's a bar for evening drinks, room service for anyone who'd rather not move, and breakfast to set up a day on the water or the fells. Packed lunches and kids' meals are available too, so the food side of things covers most eventualities.

The hotel itself is a Georgian mansion on Lake Windermere, with 40 rooms across two floors, all en-suite and some set up as family rooms. The grounds are well kept and stretch down towards the water, with a garden, picnic area and outdoor seating making the most of the lake and mountain views. A games room adds another option for downtime, and facilities such as free WiFi, laundry service and 24-hour reception cover the practical side of a stay.

Staff are consistently noted for being attentive without being intrusive, which suits a property that draws people looking for a proper break rather than a quick stopover. Outside the grounds there's walking and cycling country on the doorstep, along with golf, fishing, horse riding and watersports nearby, plus pubs and entertainment within reach. Free on-site parking and an electric vehicle charge point are provided for those arriving by car.

We enjoyed a wonderful, relaxing long weekend at this fabulous hotel for the bank holiday. We were blessed with lovely weather and spent a lot of time relaxing in the stunning grounds, taking full advantage of the table service on the terrace (the cream tea was so good!). The service was fantastic from all team members and the food was delicious, whether it was breakfast, the bistro, or the Lake Edge restaurant. We booked a lake view room and were so pleased with it - it seemed to have been recently refurnished and was well appointed. The views of lake Windermere are stunning from various vantage points, with well kept gardens - after a busy day of sightseeing, it was great to return to this oasis of calm each afternoon. We will most definitely be returning as a base to explore more of the Lake District!

We visited Storrs Hall Hotel to celebrate Mel's birthday with afternoon tea and it was an absolutely wonderful experience from start to finish. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The setting alone is breathtaking — the hotel is stunning, with beautiful grounds overlooking Lake Windermere. The moment you arrive, you feel like you're somewhere truly special. The afternoon tea itself was first class. Every detail had been carefully considered — from the perfectly presented sandwiches and freshly baked scones to the delicate pastries and cakes. Everything was beautifully fresh and absolutely delicious. A real treat! What made the occasion even more memorable was the fantastic service. The staff were warm, attentive and genuinely welcoming — nothing was too much trouble. They made Mel feel really special on her birthday, which meant the world to us. We didn't stay overnight, but the experience has left us eager to return and enjoy a full stay. If the afternoon tea is anything to go by, it would be exceptional. If you're looking for somewhere truly special to celebrate a milestone or simply treat yourself, Storrs Hall Hotel is the perfect choice. Highly recommend! 🎂🍰☕

Recently stayed here for an elopement wedding. Stayed in the boathouse which I would definitely recommend. The attention to detail is incredible. We had a lovely ceremony. A special thank you to Izzy for looking after my groom on the day. Also a special thanks to Marchin for looking after us on handover and in the restaurant. All the staff were lovely and friendly. We would highly recommend and we will definitely be back. Thank you all.

Long overdue review, we wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone at Storrs Hall for making our engagement a memorable and personal experience. Staff are absolutely phenomenal and more than attentive. We had an amazing experience from start to finish and I had absolutely no idea leading up to the proposal. Not forgetting to mention how beautiful the grounds and rooms are. I really felt special throughout our stay, with staff even making the effort to come over the morning after to congratulate us. We have just returned to celebrate a year on since getting engaged and we have had another perfect stay. With the hotel even giving us a complimentary upgrade. We are extremely appreciative of this and look forward to returning next year to mark the occasion once again. We can't thank Storrs Hall enough❤️
