About The Corn Mill Lodge Hotel

For travellers who want straightforward comfort without a city-centre price tag, The Corn Mill Lodge Hotel on Pudsey Road makes a practical base for exploring Leeds or passing through on business. With 75 rooms, free on-site parking and good transport links nearby, it suits drivers, event visitors and anyone who'd rather spend on the day out than the bed for the night.

Rooms are clean and comfortable, kitted out with air conditioning, drinks and free WiFi, and the on-site restaurant and bar serve generous meals, with the full English breakfast a particular highlight. Staff are noted for being friendly and helpful, and the reasonable prices extend across the wider facilities, which include a gym, spa and sauna, an indoor swimming pool, a garden, meeting rooms and porter and concierge services. It's also set up for weddings and events. It's worth flagging that a small number of guests have reported a lingering smell of cannabis in some rooms, so it's not without the odd rough edge.

Beyond the hotel, there are pubs, restaurants and other eateries within easy reach, along with nearby entertainment options, making it a sensible spot for evenings out after a day in Leeds.

We here on the 28th Feb 2026, and I have to say it was just over average. The staff were very attentetive but the food oh dear. I'll start with the starters, presentation was very good, but the quality of the food was poor. I had the lamb kofta, koftas are supposed to be served hot and sizzeling and quite juicy, what I got was reheated, warm, dry and rather hard, the taste was good but overall pretty much under what I would have expected. The mushrooms and garlic in leek sauce, the sauce was ok, but using tinned button mushrooms is just not good enough. The meatballs were also pretty firm and dry, not enough eggs and breadcrumbs to loosen them up. I had the beef bourguignon i, to quote the menu, classic beef in a rich sauce of mushrooms, bacon, mushrooms, garlic, red wine and thyme. What I got was braised beef in oxo gravey, how do I know it was oxo? Well in the gents toilet there was an empty bucket of oxo beef granuals under a leeky pipe. The beef was good and tender, but come on it was not what was on the menu. The mashed potatoes had a strange lightly sour taste, very strange and there were no onions, mushrooms in the sauce, and the only red the sauce saw was still in the bottle. The vegetables were perfect. The pizzas were abysmal. The steak and stilton pie was very good. The cajun chicken, not brilliant, the black searing tasted more or less of just burnt oil. Another point to be made is also portion control, very hap-hazzard. The desserts were good, the brownies were excellent, the Eton Mess was good, but the jam roly poly also had a slightly funny taste to start with but after a couple of mouthfulls good. The stickey toffee pudding was also good. So all in all OK, but food wise definately room in certain areas for improvement. OK, waiters and bar staff, very good indeed, and the quality of the beers was on the dot. My Black Sheep ale was perfect. Just one more thing. If you are going to have an open kitchen, the last thing a guest needs to see are the chefs using their to portion out salads and veg. Yes we all do it, ( you may have have now guessed, that I am also a chef) and a chefs hands are always clean, but guests dont really need to see that. All in all a good night, but some of the food was a let down. The kitchen needs to check its portion control, and also stop using oxo gravey granuals for your sauces, its not difficult to make brown stock a jus and and the correct roux. Just a lttle bit more finesse and thoughtfulness and youre sailing. I dont know if Corn Mill will read this, but review id meant as contructive criticism and not as a negative.

I Just eat here rather than staying. Food is good value & portions are generous. £15 for two courses at lunchtime. Ordered an all day breakfast once & it was huge. Staff friendly and efficient. Only criticism is that some dishes like fish pie or meat pie with veg can be too dry. They need to provide a jug of parsley sauce/ gravy. The cottage pie however does come with extra gravy.
