Perched high in the Welsh uplands near Llandeilo, this adults-only wild camping retreat sprawls across 420 acres of rewilded farmland on the edge of the Cambrian Mountains Dark Sky Reserve. Campfires crackle beneath starry skies so dark you'll see the Milky Way in full glory, with sunrise views stretching over the Brecon Beacons to the east and sunsets gilding the Cothi Valley westward. A self-guided trail helps you explore the private landscape dotted with stone circles, lakes and meadows, though the complete absence of lighting means headtorches are essential after dusk.
Getting your car to the grass pitches depends on weather – if it's muddy, borrow a wheelbarrow for the five-minute uphill trek with your kit. The climb pays off with spectacular hilltop views, but pack seriously warm, waterproof layers for this exposed location. Wildlife thrives here, which means no dogs are permitted. With no running water or facilities beyond the basics, this is genuinely wild camping – remote, peaceful and utterly worth the effort.
