A 97-room hotel near Paddington in London, offering comfortable beds and straightforward value, though some rooms show their age.

About Alexandra Hotel

Walk into a room at the Alexandra Hotel and you'll find a comfortable bed as the main draw, in a straightforward space that won't overwhelm with frills. Some rooms are more tired than others, and soundproofing isn't a strong point, so a quiet spot on the corridor is worth requesting if that matters to you. With 97 rooms across the property, there's a reasonable range on offer.

The hotel sits on Sussex Gardens near Hyde Park, close to London Paddington, which makes it a practical base for getting into the city or heading further afield. Breakfast is served on site, and there's a restaurant for other meals, alongside a gym, lift access, and free WiFi throughout. Guests arriving by car can take advantage of free on-site parking, while porter and concierge services, luggage storage, and laundry service cover the practical side of a stay. Meeting rooms and wedding facilities are also available for those with more than just an overnight stop in mind.

Beyond the hotel, the surrounding area has pubs, restaurants, and entertainment options within easy reach, and Chessington World of Adventures is noted as a point of interest for those looking to venture out. It's a hotel built around convenience and fair value rather than polish, best suited to guests who want a comfortable bed and a well-placed address near Paddington Station.

Terribly priced for what is on offer. Tiny rooms that look like they haven't been touched since the 80s/90s. The level of deep grime and dirt was absolutely disgusting, with the floors and tiles feeling 'sticky'. Thankful that we only stayed here for one night as it was easily the worst hotel we have ever stayed in.

Simple (2*) but clean hotel. It is an old house, so not very soundproof, but ok. Reception open 24/7. You can leave your bag there for a short while, but they are kept there openely in the reception area, not sure how safe. For our room in the fourth floor we had to climb the last floor via stairs, but other rooms are accessible with no stairs. Rooms are small, but this is London! Breakfast ends early (9.15h). Its toast, croissant, jam, ham, cheese, Tea, coffee, yogurt and cereal, so very basic but included. Comfortable bed and pillow. Lighting in room awful - its all floodlights. There is hand soap and shampoo, hair dryer. Location of hotel is excellent. Short walk to Paddington. Easy walking distance to Hyde Park, Oxford street. Lots of restaurants nearby. All in all a great hotel for the price paid. Would definitely return.

Yup perfect for location. Breakfast weird, bad coffee and cold toast no egg holder, weird ham and chicken cuts. Overall old style room from the 80's had to walk up 5 flights of stairs with a giant suitcase elevator was broken. Location is fantastic close to Paddington Station, its okay for 1 night sleep

We checked into this hotel on Saturday and stayed for a total of 5 nights. Unfortunately, we experienced serious issues during our stay. The elevator was working only on the day we arrived, but after that it broke down and was never fixed throughout our stay. Every time we asked about it, we were told that it had not been repaired yet. Our room was on the 4th floor. While going up and down was manageable on normal days, it became a major problem on the day of our departure. When we asked the reception staff how we were supposed to carry down two large suitcases, we were met with a very dismissive attitude. The receptionist simply said, “It’s still not fixed, there’s nothing we can do,” and continued using their headphones without offering any help. This clearly shows a lack of customer care and professionalism. I definitely do not recommend this hotel and would never consider staying here again.
