About Aquarius Hotel

Hogarth Road sits in the heart of Kensington, a part of London well used to visitors, with pubs, restaurants and other eateries within easy walking distance and Kensington (Olympia) about 1.09 miles away. It's in this setting that the Aquarius Hotel offers a straightforward base for exploring the capital.

The hotel has 41 rooms and includes breakfast, free WiFi and luggage storage for guests coming and going. Staff are attentive and helpful, and the location is a practical one for getting around London without paying central London prices. Free on-site parking is a genuine plus in an area where parking is otherwise hard to come by.

Rooms are on the smaller side and some can feel a little tired, so this suits travellers after a convenient, no-frills stay rather than a polished finish. For those prioritising location and value over luxury, the Aquarius Hotel does the job, with Windsor Great Park also within reach for a day out beyond the city.

We booked a double room and, as soon as we got there, we found hair all over the shower, on the walls, and even in the toilet, as if someone had shaved and nobody had cleaned it up. The floor and walls had all kinds of stains, the mattresses had large dark marks on them, and our window faced the railway tracks, so trains were passing by every few minutes. There was damp everywhere, rotten furniture, and plenty of other unpleasant things. Thanks to one of the hotel staff members, who was really kind and helpful, we decided to stay. When we politely explained that we didn't want that room, he immediately apologized and offered us two options: a full refund or a different room. He showed us a bigger room, which still wasn't perfectly clean, but it was much better than the first one. We ended up staying there and had no issues during our four nights. The location was excellent, right across from Earl's Court Underground station. We could get to Piccadilly in about 10 minutes, and the street itself has lots of shops, restaurants, and a great atmosphere. Overall, considering the price (€435 for four nights just 10 minutes from central London), I'd say it's good value for money given how expensive London is. The hotel itself definitely needs much better maintenance and cleaning, but the staff were friendly and dealt with the problem straight away.

Room 20 is quite the worst hotel room I have ever stayed in! In addition the stairs approaching it had a filthy carpet and the bannister was unsecured which was highly dangerous. The shower would not pass the H&S regs for non slip and was dirty. The window handle was detached and its security stay also. However the gentleman at the door was very courteous!

Be very careful with this hotel. I originally had a reservation with free cancellation. Weeks before my stay, I modified the booking by adding one extra night. During this change, I was charged the full amount, and my reservation was changed to non-refundable without clear warning or my consent. Because of this unexpected change, I was unable to travel. I contacted the hotel to explain the situation, but they refused any flexibility. I also contacted Booking.com and did not receive helpful support. This experience felt misleading and unfair. Guests should be clearly informed before a free-cancellation booking is turned into a non-refundable one and charged in full. I strongly advise future guests to be extremely careful when modifying reservations.

Had to chase away cockroaches everyday, just awful. I felt dirty the whole week I spent in the extremely tiny room. It is barely a grade above sleeping on the street. It is not worth any amount of money. A surefire way to completely sour your holidays,
