A 23-room Victorian townhouse hotel on Sussex Gardens in central London, close to Paddington station.

About Belmont Hotel

Sussex Gardens is a long terrace of Victorian townhouses in central London, and the Belmont Hotel occupies one of them, close to London Paddington. It's a practical base for exploring the capital, with the station making onward travel straightforward and Chessington World of Adventures reachable as a day out further afield.

The hotel has 23 rooms, each with an en suite bathroom, kept simple and functional rather than lavish. A hot breakfast is included, served before guests head out for the day, and there's a restaurant and bar on site for evenings in. A lift serves the upper floors, and a garden offers a spot to sit away from the street.

Beyond the rooms, the Belmont has a spa and sauna, meeting rooms and business services for those combining work with travel, plus concierge help and luggage storage. Free on-site parking is a genuine plus in this part of London. Pubs, restaurants and other eateries are all within easy reach nearby.

We were 2 of us and had booked one room for a whole week. The room is small but adequate. Bathroom could have been a bit large, but other than that everything was amazing. The rooms are cleaned every day, the bed is comfortable plus the staff is polite too. Bus stop and food places are very close and accessible. Would definitely recommend this place if you don’t want a big stay experience but something minimal and close to the city center.

Very small room but adequate for a couple of nights all I wanted was a place to rest my head good news it was on the ground floor so no stairs to climb. The shower was nice and powerful and hot, which is always a good thing. The chap on reception was very friendly and helpful

I stayed in a single room with shared bathroom for one night. It was located on the top floor (I believe 3rd). Not a place for anyone who struggles with stairs or has huge luggage - or make sure your room is on the lower levels - as it was a winding narrow staircase. Room itself was very cozy, small and tight with basically just a single bed and tiny side table for kettle, but decently kept and clean enough. Only 2 outlets behind TV - awkward to use, an extension cord or longer cabled power strip would be extremely helpful. Especially awkward to use kettle - I had to lift and hold it to use outlet as cord wasn't long enough to place it anywhere. Appreciated that I could open the window as it was quite warm, and there was a fan, hairdryer, and iron in room. Linens clean but few stray hairs. The hotel should add hooks, as there wasn't any - much needed for damp towel, clothing, etc. Bed itself was comfy enough, but I noticed it was mattress on boxspring with no frame - looks cheap and hard to properly clean. The room also only had one overhead light. A softer side light would be nice for nighttime reading and relaxing. Tea/coffee, toothbrush, soap, slippers, and towels given which was appreciated. Shared bathroom was floor and a half down (I think only shared with one other room - it was always available when I needed, with secure lock) and had a frosted window for some airflow. Clean enough - again needed hooks!! - but small bench for clothes and vanity shelf above sink to place items. Shower had nice water pressure and hot water (took a bit but plenty hot). Hand soap was out, but extra mini bar soaps provided. Filling kettle and water bottle was very awkward with the tap and small sink. Used my clean tea mug to dump water into kettle then poured as needed for bottle before heating the rest. Overall quiet location but rooms had very loud locks as doors closed. Would use again, but a few simple easy changes mentioned such as hooks, outlet, lighting would also really improve experience and comfort, as I otherwise didn't mind the coziness myself especially for a short stay. Kind helpful staff, who allowed me to leave bags before and after checkin (left in office so felt secure enough).
