About Normandie Hotel

Paddington station is close enough to reach on foot from the Normandie Hotel, making this a practical base for arrivals off the train or the airport link, while Hyde Park lies within walking distance for anyone wanting green space and a change of pace from the streets around Sussex Gardens.

The Normandie Hotel has 14 rooms and keeps things simple, with air conditioning, free WiFi and a lift to help with luggage. There's a restaurant and bar on site, plus breakfast available each morning, and further pubs, restaurants and entertainment can be found nearby for guests who want more choice. Some rooms run cold and showers have been known to break, so it's worth flagging any issues to staff early on.

Practical extras include free on-site parking, airport transfers, luggage storage, meeting rooms and a garden, and the hotel also takes on weddings. It suits visitors who want a straightforward, well-placed stopover rather than a polished stay, with Paddington and Hyde Park doing much of the work in terms of location.

This is the worst hotel ever I have ever stayed. I booked from 12th to 15th February 2026. I checked in on 12th February. When I have reached there, there was a receptionist. She is an old lady. I asked her name. She immediately replied that is it important for you to? I was shocked 😳. She did not even welcome us. The main issue was with the room. Beds are not comfortable. Old beds have been put there. OMG! The heaters are not working. Alternatively, they provided two temporary small heaters however those are not enough to heat the room. My mother started to wheeze. There is no kettle inside the room. There was another receptionist. With my request, he provided a kettle. Due to their bad heating system, i checked out the hotel on 13rd February. I asked at least partial refund. But they refused for anything. Please avoid this hotel.

Personally it was a great location, close to Paddington station. However, the room was very cold heaters were not on. Needed to use a small heater which only heated a small surrounding area leaving the rest of the room still cold. I had 2 nights of hot shower then it was cold for the other 3. The bathroom was also extremely cold. I went in and there was a small empty bottle of water behind the curtains that hadn’t been cleaned. Stayed in room 5 and there was a sizeable gap under the door which you could look into the room from the outside! Had to put a blanket at the bottom of the door so people didnt look in. The lock was also a bit iffy and was stiff. Overall not a great stay but it was manageable for the time i was there.

For a 3* hotel, it’s everything you can expect: clean bedsheets and bathroom, functional fan, quiet… when you’re fighting the worst temperature in London this summer, the room was a pleasant retreat!

Nightmare of a stay!! There was another reviewer who was there during our same stay (never met them) so while we didn’t have bed bugs when she did, we had a room with curtains falling off the rod, a 1.5 ft crack in the wall, mold growing on the bathroom walls and in the shower caulking, the shower knob doesn’t stay on and the carpet stinks like 50 years worth of filth. I refused to walk barefoot in this place. The shower didn’t have hot water one night and the other night it was scolding hot. No happy medium. The hotel doesn’t answer their phone either that they give you the number for. The carpet in the stairwell is ripping up and someone fell down the stairs at night because the hallway light is broken. You have to use your phone flashlight to see the stairs. There is no breakfast like it’s advertised and probably wouldn’t trust its cleanliness after seeing the rooms. It’s comical cuz they have a level 4 hygiene rating but this place is straight up disgusting! If they spent the money they collect back into this place, it could be charming as it has potential but in the mean time, I’ll never be back and I would not let my dog sleep there. Do not stay here. We saw the receptionist one time and never had an opportunity to talk to them about it. It’s not worth the price whatsoever and not worth the stress or feeling dirty. The pictures are very misleading if you compare my photos to the ones they advertise (same room). Do yourself a favor and look the other way. You could not pay me to go back. I should add- we booked a different hotel that cancelled our stay and offered this accommodation. Being from the US and on a plane, I had no idea this was the disaster I was walking into. Seriously, run. Run as fast as you can. According to other reviews- it’s had 7 years of bed bugs. 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
