About Brompton Hotel

South Kensington is one of London's best-placed spots for museums, restaurants and easy transport links, and Brompton Hotel sits among it on Old Brompton Road, within easy reach of the Tube station and the area's galleries and eateries. West Brompton is also close by, useful for those wanting to explore beyond the immediate neighbourhood.

The hotel has 25 rooms, each with an en-suite bathroom, and bathrooms have recently been refreshed. Breakfast is served on site, and there's a bar for an evening drink, plus laundry service for longer stays. Maintenance in the rooms can be inconsistent, so it's worth setting expectations accordingly, though many find the overall value reasonable given the location.

Beyond the hotel, guests have plenty of options nearby, with pubs, bars and restaurants all within walking distance, alongside entertainment venues. Staff are noted for being helpful and friendly, which counts for a lot when a central London base is the main draw. For visitors prioritising location over polish, Brompton Hotel offers a practical stay in a well-connected part of the city.

I genuinely do not know where to begin with how appalling this so-called "hotel" was. Room 415. £93 per night. An absolute disgrace. The photos online are a complete and utter lie nothing, and I mean NOTHING, matched what was advertised. To make matters worse, an entire floor was under renovation, and guests were expected to navigate through piles of dust, debris, and construction materials just to reach their rooms. This is not only unacceptable it is a health and safety hazard. We were never warned about this when booking. The room itself was unbearably hot no amount of adjusting made any difference. Sleeping was nearly impossible. And the filth throughout the hotel was overwhelming. This place was not just dirty it was disgustingly, unacceptably, health-hazardously filthy. I have stayed in budget hostels with higher hygiene standards than this. For £93 a night, I expected the bare minimum of a clean, safe, functional room. I got none of the above. The ONLY redeeming quality was the reception staff, who were genuinely warm and friendly and they deserve far better than to be associated with this establishment. This is, without question, the worst hotel experience of my life. Calling it a hotel feels generous. Do not be fooled by the photos. Do not book this place. Save your money, save your health, and save yourself the misery. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

My son and I stayed here for 3 nights. We had a wonderful time in London and the Brompton was a base in a perfect location for exploring. This is a budget friendly hotel and allowed us to get more experiences in on our budget. The room was quite the bed linen crisp and clean and the beds really comfortable, we slept very well. As we were on the top floor the water took some time to heat but we just ran it for a minute or 2 before we got in. The en-suite was small but the fixtures were grohe so really good quality. There are no lifts, you need to be quite fit to bring bags up and down. Harry on reception did offer to help but we managed fine. The room facilities were really good for the price, WiFi, kettle, tea coffee, hairdryer safe and small Samsung TV all in perfect working condition. The hotel is still under refurbishment and definitely worn around the edges in many parts but it was the perfect base for sleep, wash and go! The baggage storage was a godsend as we were in early and out late! Yes this is in an open area but the only people that would really have access are staff and other guests storing their luggage we left nothing valuable just clothes!! It’s also worth noting that every member of staff we encountered were friendly smiling and helpful. I can’t fault anything about our stay. Thank you I would definitely return!!

Top floor was solid 1 big bed in the middle with 2 on either side. Freshly renovated and clean. Not air-conditioned but the two fans and the breeze from being on top from the windows that dont fully open due to safety, seem to keep just the right temperature for comfort. Solid newly renovated bathroom with great pressure shower head. The room is brand new. They are renovating all the rooms one by one. Did I mention how close this is to the subway, food shops, and the museums???? All within a five minute walking distance!!!! Solid stay for a family not trying to break the bank....

Wonderful staff and location, but Room 403 needs urgent maintenance attention We recently stayed at The Brompton Hotel and want to give a huge thank you to the team—the staff were exceptionally pleasant and helpful throughout our visit. The hotel is in a fantastic location, but unfortunately, our experience was let down by the condition of Room 403. Having spent 12 years working as a hotel maintenance supervisor, I tend to notice technical details, and there are several distinct issues in this room that require urgent attention: * **Electrical Safety Hazard:** The double socket on the right-hand side of the bed is faulty. A plug has to be pulled halfway out just to secure a connection, which is a clear safety risk and needs immediate replacement. * **Recurring Lighting Issues:** The bedside light on the left-hand side was completely non-functional. Disappointingly, this was also the case during a stay here two weeks earlier, meaning it was missed or ignored between visits. The built-in light on the bathroom mirror was also completely inoperable. * **Hot Water Delay:** In the mornings, it took roughly 10 minutes of running the tap for hot water to finally arrive. Under standard Health & Safety guidelines, hot water should comfortably reach the tap within one minute. To top it off, on our final night, we were woken up at 1:20 AM by very loud music blasting from the adjacent room (Room 402). We like this hotel and truly appreciate the excellent front-line team, but management really needs to step up their room inspections and support their maintenance department to bring the room quality up to the standard of their service.
