About Castleton Hotel
Travellers who want a no-frills, well-placed London base rather than a destination in itself should look at the Castleton Hotel. Set on Sussex Gardens in Greater London, it occupies a Victorian building with 46 rooms, including family options, and suits those prioritising location and value over polish.
Rooms are understated and en-suite, with air conditioning, drinks in room, and free WiFi throughout. A hot and cold breakfast is included each morning, and practical extras such as luggage storage and laundry service make it workable for longer stays or early departures. Décor won't be the highlight of the trip, but the essentials are covered.
The surrounding streets have plenty of restaurants, pubs and bars within easy reach, and London Paddington is close by for onward travel or arrivals off the train. Chessington World of Adventures is also nearby for those wanting a day trip out of the city. It's a straightforward place to rest between exploring London rather than a place to linger.

A Complete nightmare. Don’t stay here!! We planned to stay for 3 nights but the condition of the room is so horrible that we end up stayed only one night. 1. Misleading photos & poor hygiene The room is smaller than the photos on Agoda, old and dirty floor with no chair in the room. We can only put our bags on bed. The window area seems not been cleared for very long time, can see stain on curtains and chewed gum underneath the window which is VERY close to bed. Absolutely disgusting. 2. Broken facilities in room The television, heater and air conditioner can’t be used. Shower is also broken. There are Electric Kettle & hair dryer in room, but those seems so dirty that we did not even try to test its usability. 3. Unbearable smell from toilet The smell is just horrible that we avoid to open the door and need to hold breath while using it, which is so bad that it completely ruined our first day in London. We felt so relieved when we found another place to stay.

Great location near the station park food and touristy shops. Clean comfy bed. Bathroom dirty mold in corners but fine for a few days stay. Nice staff, DID throw away my passport without noticing somehow and were not helpful when trying to find it. (found in trash out side of my room) but did keep our luggage behind the desk for an extra hour before our flight.

Location is top but the hotel itself feels kinda wreck. Not well maintained or cared for. Unclean and it feels unhygienic. The hotel photos are highly deceptive, check these photos to see reality. They gave me a room in the floor underground and it felt very inconvenient with the bad lighting, bad window, and uncleanness. Never choose cheap, not to recommend! To the hotel: please take advantage and better care of the valuable location you have by offering better service and quality!

The single room I was given, was essentially a cleaning cupboard with a build in portable toilet and shower. And that's exactly what it smelled like. The 'wardrobe' teamed up as a kitchenette. The mattress was blood-stained and at least 30 years old. The room and 'bathroom' hasn't been cleaned once throughout my 3 night stay. On a positive note it didn't have bed bugs. I've complained several times but neither was given a different room nor a discount. Not sure if it was the kettle placed above the several sockets or the rest of it but it didn't feel like a safe place to stay.
