About Garden View Hotel

For visitors who want to keep costs down without sacrificing location, Garden View Hotel makes a sensible base near Earl's Court and Kensington. With 61 rooms set around Nevern Square, it suits city-breakers, business travellers using the on-site facilities, and anyone who'd rather spend their budget on sightseeing than accommodation.

Rooms are straightforward, and while most are kept clean and tidy, standards can vary from one to the next, so it's worth knowing this isn't a polished boutique stay. What guests do get is a solid range of facilities for a hotel at this level: a restaurant and bar, breakfast, free WiFi, air conditioning, a garden, an indoor swimming pool, and even a spa and sauna. Business services, a lift, porter and concierge services, and free on-site parking add convenience, and the hotel also handles airport transfers and weddings.

Staff are generally friendly and accommodating, though service can be inconsistent. The location is a genuine strength, with shops, restaurants, pubs and the tube all close by, making it easy to explore Kensington and the wider city on foot or by underground.

So, despite the terrible reviews on google maps (about the bed bugs and such) i found the bed and the bathroom to be pretty clean. They change your towels and sheets daily, and the bed was ok to sleep on. The elevator is small, but i am not large myself and I’d rather have a small elevator to take my bag up than none at all. The staff is friendly and they did address the problems I had in the room upon my request. Overall my stay was fine. Now for the downsides. The room in general is not super clean, they don’t seem to care much about the corners and crevices. The shower is a different story, there was hardly any pressure and it was pretty much boiling hot water (rotating the thermostat had zero effect). I told the reception and they did something about it, so the water got “bearable”, still pretty hot and very low pressure. Almost impossible to wash the hair but I managed. I stayed in room 52. If i was to get the same room I guess i would stay here again, but overall I wouldn’t risk it. The price was pretty low, so this is something one can expect for the price

Reality is the price I paid for a London hotel is completely acceptable. Overall value is 4 stars. The hotel is dated but owners keeps it clean. Service of the front desk is friendly and helpful. If your just stay for a bit or 2 in London with closed to sub, this is recommended. The biggest con is no air-condition so hot and clod season can be a big hit.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel this experience deserves an honest one. From the moment I arrived, the experience was disappointing. The receptionist didn't make us feel welcome at all. There was no greeting or smile—she immediately asked, "What's your name? Do you have a reservation?" When we greeted her with "Good afternoon," the response was simply, "It's 1 o'clock," instead of returning the greeting. It felt cold and unprofessional, and it certainly wasn't the kind of welcome you expect when checking into a hotel. The condition of the hotel only made things worse. Several lights in the lobby were broken and hanging from the ceiling, creating a poor and neglected first impression. The smoking area outside the entrance was covered in spider webs, making it obvious that it hadn't been cleaned in quite some time. Inside the hotel, I even saw a dirty blanket being used as a cleaning rag in the hallway. The common areas looked untidy and poorly maintained throughout the property. Overall, the hotel appeared neglected and lacked proper upkeep. I don't write this to insult anyone, but to honestly describe my experience. Unfortunately, this is one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed in. The lack of cleanliness, poor maintenance, and unwelcoming customer service made the stay extremely disappointing. These are basic standards that any guest should be able to expect, and in my opinion, they were simply not met. I sincerely hope management takes this feedback seriously and invests in improving both the condition of the hotel and the level of customer service.

Location is absolutely perfect for a London trip. Next to main tube station and handy to Heathrow. Can get almost anywhere in less than 30 minutes. If you’d rather walk, Earls Court is a block away with restaurants, shops. Very safe neighbourhood. And Freddie Mercury lived just down the street. Rooms are what you’d expect in London but clean and quiet. Most of the time you won’t be here so it’s perfect. Will stay here next time.
