About Melrose House

Crystal Palace Park is within easy reach of Melrose House, and Norwood Junction railway station is close by too, making this a handy base for exploring South London or heading onward into the city. Pubs, restaurants and other eateries can be found nearby, along with entertainment options for evenings out.

Melrose House itself is a Victorian townhouse with individually styled rooms, each with its own character and an en-suite bathroom. Guests have use of a sunroom and a garden, along with an outdoor seating area and picnic space for relaxing when the weather allows. Free breakfast is included, and drinks can be brought to the room. Family rooms are available for those travelling with children, and reception is staffed around the clock.

Free WiFi runs throughout the property, and free on-site parking is provided, which is a useful bonus in this part of London. It's a straightforward, well-placed option for visitors wanting easy access to the park and the railway without needing to be in central London.

A wonderful place to stay if you prefer a quieter base just outside central London. Located on a peaceful residential street, it's only a short walk from Penge East station, with Victoria Station just 15–20 minutes away by train. Even the last train from central London leaves around 12:30 a.m., making it easy to enjoy the city before returning. This is a family-run guesthouse with a warm, authentic British atmosphere. Calvin is a fantastic host and serves an excellent traditional English breakfast every morning. A great alternative if you want to experience London while staying away from the crowds and constant buzz of the city centre.

Very nice! The room was very clean and comfortable. There is a train station a 10 minute walk away. The best part was the breakfast area. There is someone there that makes a full English breakfast right there and they also have cereals and toast. Highly recommend!

This is an excellent choice while visiting London! The house is very close to the train station (almost 10min walk). It has clean rooms with comfortable beds and smart tv. The breakfast is varied, you have many choices like yogurt and milk with cereals. One of the things I liked a lot is that every morning I have found the owner in the kitchen and he asked if we would like something cooked. That is how I served delicious english breakfast every morning! It was a great experience and I would definitely recommend Melrose house to those who want to go to London!

Pretty good experience overall. The four of us had a room near the garden. The room was pretty clean, comfortable, and had plenty of outlets for charging up devices. The room came with a small refrigerator and a couch as well. The walk to the train station was not far and there were bus stations all around. The fellow making breakfast was a fantastic, friendly cook. For the money it is great. We had a very happy stay here. For the price, you can't beat it.
