What visitors say
I was hoping for an air-conditioned building on a hot day but was disappointed. My first lane-swimming booking (you need to book in advance on the website, by phone or in the Mytime Active app) went alright, but I didn’t stay long, as the temperature of the main pool is too high for lane swimming, and there were quite a few swimmers per lane. A second, shallow, teaching pool is also there. The changing area is co-ed, with lockers (refundable 1-pound coin) and cubicles. Hair-dryers available. There are other activities in the building, including for children, and a café.

Huge spiders in kids Soft play. This place desperately needs deep cleaning and pest control. When the staff was told, she was attentive and promised to get rid of it. I understand they have busy jobs, however as a parent I wished they would act immediately as bugs right next to little children is a big safety hazard.

The staff are nice but the changing room are atrocious. It’s hard to find another gym with changing room in such a dire state. Nearly all lockers either broken, constantly locked and disgustingly filthy. Smells of urine, i have seen a cleaner three times in a year. I genuinely can’t understand why its so hard to keep it clean. Members pay for fees, so surely part of it can be set aside for routine, daily cleaning?

Avoid this spa at beckenham leisure centre. It's basically ran by teenagers. It's filthy, diseased and just not safe. The swimming pool ladies shower facilities are full of teenage boys and there are some very inconsiderate, aggressive and ill-mannered mums allowing their teenage boys in there. When you report to staff, NOTHING IS DONE. There is a constant stench of sewage, feaces in the swimming locker area. I unfortunate went bare feet once and got 6 verrucas for the first time in my life. Absolutely DISGUSTING. The gym is grossly unhygienic. Very dusty, smells and there's no etiquette of members to pick up weights after themselves or clean up or not hug machines. The staff don't even speak to members to stop issues that are happening in front of them. The place is just terrible and unnecessarily costing. It's so badly run, unhygienic, unsafe especially female toilets and shower room. I have complained so many times about this and still no age restriction is put on the female shower doors.

People say this gym offers a variety of equipment and classes, including heated pools and a small indoor tennis court, with friendly staff and reasonable prices.
Other reviews mention changing rooms can be poorly maintained and have a persistent odor.
