We had an excellent experience at the Cumberland Hotel. It was our first time visiting London and the hospitality at the Cumberland Hotel was a great first impression. Everyone from the check-in staff to the concierge, the bellmen and doormen were absolutely wonderful, courteous and always ready to help. There was some computer issue during our check-in process so it ended up taking a lot longer than expected but everyone apologized profusely for the delay. The bellmen waited with our luggage until we were finally checked in and able to go up to our rooms. The concierge desk staff gave us tons of tips for sightseeing including walking us almost to the spot where the tour bus would pick us up. We were offered help at every turn even without asking for it. Cleaning staff were friendly as well and did a great job cleaning the rooms. The rooms themselves were wonderful, very comfortable, and the complimentary snacks and water were much appreciated. The location was also very convenient, being close to many landmarks including Buckingham Palace and Selfridges. The hotel staff were helpful even after we left. I accidentally left my iPad in the hotel room and when I called the hotel about it, they were quick to update me that the iPad was found and shipped it to a local address for me very promptly. All in all, a great experience, highly recommend!

Perhaps the noisiest hotel room I have ever had. Sandwiched between the service lifts and trucks unloading for the hotel all night don’t think I’ve managed more than 45 minutes without being woken up. Worse yet delivery from about 4:30 in the morning has had staff shouting and yelling directly outside and in service corridor as they go about unloading. Alarm set for 8:30. Wide awake and packed waiting for breakfast at 5am. Never again. Room 1055 by the way. If they put you on the first floor don’t accept it. If you must stay here (why) insist on an internal room higher up. Half decent rate booked by work. I’ve instructed them to get a refund and to not use this hotel again. Unhelpful and not worth it.

I had a very disappointing experience at The Cumberland Hotel in London and would not stay here again. When I arrived to check in, the reception staff told me that my booking had not been paid for. Instead of checking their system first, they insisted there was a problem. Only after I explained the situation several times did they verify the booking and realize that my payment had already been received. This created unnecessary stress after a long journey. The room was much smaller than expected, and the bathroom was in very poor condition. The sink and toilet did not drain properly, which made the bathroom unpleasant to use. I reported the issue to the reception supervisor and was told that it would be cleaned while I was out. However, when I returned, nothing had been done. I went back to reception, and the supervisor then informed me that housekeeping had already left for the day and that I would have to wait until the next day. This was unacceptable, especially after I had already been assured the problem would be resolved. In addition, I paid for an extra bed, but it was not provided until I repeatedly reminded the staff several times. Overall, the room quality, poor communication, lack of follow-through, and disappointing customer service made this one of the worst hotel experiences I have had. I expected a much higher standard from a hotel of this reputation and cannot recommend staying here.
