All glitz, moderate glamour. We stopped over at this hotel for one night as a brief stay on our travels. We knew we would arrive well before check in time so mainly wanted to just drop our bags before venturing out for the day. The front desk interaction was kind and they asked us to provide a good phone number where they would reach out if our room was ready earlier than 3:00 pm. They did not end up calling me but when we returned a little earlier than 3, our room was ready and bags had already been sent up. Did make my spidey senses tingle a little for how long the room had actually been ready, but totally understand an early check in isn't a guarantee. We'd booked a basic room, quaint on the first floor, but still very cozy and quiet. Minibar was complimentary which was a nice touch and the snacks/drinks were a tasty treat. There is also coffee/tea available in the room as well. There were a couple of interesting points to the room that detracted from the 5 star quality/price point of this stay. One was the water pressure in the shower which essentially plummeted to 0 if you used hot water, but then was completely fine if you wanted to shower in frigid temps. The second was the blow dryer not having a outlet in the bathroom so I had to plug it in by the door and use the hallway to dry my hair each time. Sort of a strange set up imo. All in all, this was a quiet place to stay for a night, but I suppose we expected more given the 5 star designation and $$$ price point.

I was running the London marathon and this was a good location for access to transportation. The staff were nice and helpful, even upgraded our room and gave us a free drink when they had some issues checking us in. The room was spacious and tidy. The bathroom layout was fantastic. The most important thing was how comfortable the bed was. This was much needed after the marathon. Unfortunately, I didn't get to try the breakfast but I'm certain it would have been brilliant too. The not so great part: Outside the room was noisy. Had difficulty falling to sleep given the day I had. The hairdryer didn't work as expected. The entertainment options were very limited on the TV. Only managed to get one channel.

The only reason this hotel is getting even one star is because Nibi (not sure how to spell) one of the staff was lovely and the room was ok. First of all we requested early check in when we booked a month in advance and when we got there we had to wait until past the check in time. Adding to that the reception workers need lessons on customer service because their attitude was appalling and very arrogant. They spoke to us as if they looked down on us. And lastly, we booked a superior deluxe suite and had a room with a concrete wall with mold on it. It’s a shame because some of the workers that weren’t on reception were lovely and the place was ok but the rest was very disappointing

Our stay at The Mayfair Hotel was excellent overall. The only real drawback was the room size, which felt on the smaller side, but everything else more than compensated for it. Service was consistently strong, warm, and professional. We did have an unexpected issue in the room, which could have been a disappointing moment, but it was handled with impressive speed and genuine care. The team resolved it with high quality service and fair compensation, and after that there was truly nothing to complain about. The atmosphere throughout the hotel is polished and comfortable, and the location is a major advantage. A special mention also goes to the concierge, who were helpful and efficient. Hotel bars can often be underwhelming, but that was not the case here. The bar felt lively rather than dull, with very good drinks, well executed food, and attentive staff who made it easy to relax and enjoy the space. In short, a very well run hotel with a service culture that shows. Despite the smaller room, we would happily return.
